[WINDOWS] Control Windows volume instead of XBMC own volume - Nazgulled - 2009-02-10

My remote, which is the iMON Pad from my Antec Fusion case doesn't allow me to create keyboard shortcuts for the volume keys and I didn't want it either cause I like to control Windows volume with the remote.

But, is it possible that XBMC volume is controlled by the Windows volume instead of it's own volume? I'm asking this because the way it is now, I don't see any OSD for the volume when I increase/decrease it with the remote cause I'm actually changing the Windows volume and not XBMC volume.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Also, is it possible to have the volume labeled from 0% to 100%, or something like that, instead of db levels?

I would like this also! I asked if this was possible in an thread in the windows section (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=44999) a while ago but didnt get any response...

Good, I'm not the only one with this suggestion, maybe it gets done in the future Smile

Would be nice to have some feedback from XBMC developers though Smile

Any answer by the devs would be nice, or is it better to create a ticket in the trac for this?

- topfs2 - 2009-02-17

Better create a ticket for it, I think you can safely add one for linux and one for OSX aswell. I think all could need this atleast in --standalone mode wereas XBMC Should control the OS more.

Cheers,
Tobias

Ok then, I'll do it when I got the time... Smile

- macardi - 2009-02-25

I have added a ticket (#5989) concerning this feature.

- Nazgulled - 2009-02-26

Thank you for letting us know Smile

I had forget about it, sorry.

- macardi - 2009-03-13

I created a ticket for this some weeks ago ( http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5989 )which have received no response (except from Nazgulled who "voted" for this feature to be implemented Laugh)

I guess the reason for the lack of activity is due to the dev team having hundreds of other tickets to attend to, but I just would like to make sure that I didn't made some fundamental error when creating the ticket which made it fall between the laps of the miracle worker of the dew team?

Could some experianced ticket maker confirm one or the other?

Does anyone know if this we implemented? I would like XBMC to control Windows volume.

- digital21cn - 2011-11-21

still no update?

Hy,

To add another voice to this thread, I think this is a great and very useful idea that I hope will be implemented into xbmc soon.
