yeah btw would anybody consider making a comic reader plugin something like advanced launcher for games but just for comics?

since id like to have an extra menu item in aeon mq3 that sez comics and when i enter it shows the different comics including cover art and fan art

thanks in advance
Advanced Launcher can do this already :

You just need to found the right windows application that support comic reading using command line.

If Comical is supporting command line of course it may be possible. You just need to use a Comic Book archive viewer that support command line. Since version 1.5.0 of advanced launcher, supporting XBMC internal action, I think it may be also possible to use XBMC internal image viewer for this (view .cbr files). If I found how to do this I will make a port on it.

For the metadata, there is no scrapper to get the information. I was not able to found a great comic database to retrieve the data. BTW, you could always do add this information manually like for games.

- hentai23 - 2011-08-31

well a scrapper is a must id say hope you can find one

and if you could integrate it without having to use a command prombt compatible comic book viewer wich i dont know any , itd be truly awesome

If you have not interesting or complete www source to scrap, a scrapper will be useless. Actually the best source I have found is ComicBookDB. But most a the comic did not have description.

Advanced Launcher can be used to start all applications. If your applications support command line, that's mean that you can indicate to start it with specific file (ie. start a .cbr with a comic viewer application, or start a rom with a specific emulator). If your application do not support command line, it will be more difficult to indicate which file start with it. Command line is the way for applications can interact together. If an application do not have command line support, that's mean other application cannot interact with.

ok now i get it but you still havent answered my question what comic viewing program uses command line? xD....for real now

I've actually been trying to figure this out for the last couple days. I'm pretty new to xbmc, and am trying to figure out Advanced Launcher. I'm running XBMC in Windows. How do I tell if a program supports command line? Is there a comic reader that has successfully been used in Windows with Advanced Launcher? On Advanced Launcher's wiki, the only comic reader it lists as compatible is QComicBook, which is a Linux program.

Normally if a program have a support of command line, it is written somewhere into its documentation. The WIKI pages only contain programs that are been successfully tested with Advanced Launcher. If there is only QComicBook, actually, it is because, I'm a linux user and did not found time (and also interest) to test comic readers under Windows an report the configuration into the WIKI. I'm pretty sure that there is a comic reader under windows that support command line. You just have to test an found the good one.

Under Linux, all. Under Windows I don't know.

Comical partially support command line : possibility to start a specific comic but no posibilities to start Comical into fullscreen. I was able to by pass this using a small AutoIy script. All is described into a new wiki page : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=Comical

- hentai23 - 2011-09-01

well after lookin thru google all damned night i havent found shit -.-'.....go figure

now im tired and grumpy -.-'

ill check that wiki out see if that helps any, thanks angel

well i just scanned thru and it says 0 files found ?
ok i found out my problem how do i use the onscreen keyboard if i click it with my mouse it wont react even thou mouse is enabled,so i can add the seperator between cbr and cbz

btw is there a way to make the comics stretch to my desktop resolution?

since theres either this stretch to width wich is horrible or stretch to height wich makes me have to scroll to see everything , help?

p.s: i think i found a even better one this one check it out and tell me what you think

http://comicrack.cyolito.com/

i think youll like this it got python script support here

http://comicrack.cyolito.com/forum

with an comic scraper addon

http://code.google.com/p/comic-vine-scraper/downloads/list

p.s: my bad i mentioned comical before because ive been using it now that i found out about this, comical is trash

- Angelscry - 2011-09-01

I will try to see if it it possible to use Comicrack whit Advanced Launcher, I mean : start it in fullscreen mode using command line, allows to view a specific comic, and avoid to start all the managing part of the software.

For the ComicVine website... yes... Looks really better then ComicDB. I will take a look this week-end to try to see if I can build a scrapper on that www comic source.

- hentai23 - 2011-09-01

good to hear that keep it up

p.s: i already signed up over at theyre forums to ask around if they could make an addon to be able to change the image filter , since i already

compared comical with comic rack and comical with the ability to select 3 lanczos is way sharper than the comick rack image filter i even made a screenshot here :

Oh I'm glad you guys found ComicRack -- it's a pretty good viewer and I've scraped some data from Comicvine with the addon. It seems to work pretty well. If you can get it working with a command line I would be thrilled too!

The main problem with ComicRack is that it feels kinda bloated and heavy, especially to start up and shutdown. It has a ton of features but I don't need most of them -- well, it might be the best bet for now although I'll check out Comical.

XBMC is so great for viewing many other types of media, I kinda just wish there were some better comic-viewing options! Only three or four features added to the picture-viewing would make it a real decent comic viewer. You just need some "fit" views (fit image to width, height, etc) and easier scroll/paging controls... Maybe one day!

Thanks so much for the Advanced Launcher tip.
