- Delver - 2009-04-18 I'm thinking it might be the hard drive thats the culprit here. As said above, I've no trouble with 720p and little with 1080p. But I noticed the stuttering in showcase. I listened hard and while scrolling through it all (my movies with fanart on) I noticed the hard drive sounded like it was thrashing a little bit more than I'd like. So I turned off fanart, and now the showcase mode is much better. Not perfect, but much less stutter. - phoenx97 - 2009-04-18 Desktop Windows 7 x64 Build 7000 Intel C2D E6600 2.4GHz 2GB RAM Geforce 8800GT 512MB (181.71 Win7 beta drivers) XBMC @ 1366x768 on Secondary Monitor/HDTV via HDMI (Windowed, maximized) Background tasks: Firefox with multiple tabs, uTorrent, iTunes, whatever else I am working on Performance is smooth; CPU usage on main menu is ~4-8% with threaded optimization off. Sometimes stutters while navigating in showcase view w/art on and flow layout but part of that is probably my harddrive. Playback is fine for everything including 1080p (thought 1080p movies take awhile to start), with CPU around 25% for 720p content and only a little higher for 1080p, but I guess that isn't skin related. - whity - 2009-04-18 indy5 Wrote:I've noticed that even with fanart turned off, showcase view is still very taxing on my system. Are the CPU requirements that high just to load the grouping of posters on the screen. Is there any sort of real-time processing taking place in the showcase view, without actually scrolling around or doing anything? Have you tried turning on flat view instead of coverflow? Doesn't obviously look so pretty but brings some performance boost. - `Black - 2009-04-21 C2D 3,2GHz 4GB Ram 7600GT Leopard 10.5.6 -> 50-60fps in all views @1080p ... only gets down when browsing fast but thats no problem. - indy5 - 2009-04-21 indy5 Wrote:Here's my setup and some interesting notes I changed my thumbsize to 256 and now Aeon flies in Showcase w/flow. I did try a few settings a bit higher, but lowering to 256 really made a big difference. |
