#New Aeon Theme - Download Here# - The-Boxhead - 2009-04-08

I have wipped togheter a new theme for Aeon.
Its Called "Reptile"

No bigass difference but some minor changes to textures etc.
I prolly gonna add some more textures but for now im happy.
I also might add textures to some more dialogs if im in the mood.

The preview is a little bad to get the real quality.

To install theme:
First unpack the zip file..
inside you find alotta folders. just copy all those
folders over to your xbmc\aeon\media folder and replace
all files. Done.

Cheers Smile

I also include my source files for this theme as photoshop PSD files.
For those who want to create their own themes using the psd files should be quite easy and fast Smile
SourceFiles (only download if you want to create or edit your own theme !

Very nice I like dark themes.

- needtotest - 2009-04-08

Can it run alonside with the standard AEON Stark? Otherwise it could be nice to have a selector/option where you can switch between different colors/themes.

Yeah making this an option as another theme in aeon would be cool, but i have no idea how that would work Wink

This theme should work just fine with standard or non standard aeon stark.

If i remember correct... the theme switching in xbmc is only supported
in the way that you only change values in xml files ? or can
you actually with this also change png files ?

- Montellese - 2009-04-09

I have no idea about skinning and that stuff, but in my opinion you wouldn't have to change PNG files. You "just" need different folders for the different themes and somewhere in an XML you save the path to your theme images. And if you can change values in XML files you should also be able to change the value holding the path to the images.

But I want to mention again that I don't have any idea about skinning etc.

simply compress the textures with XPR Express found here http://blackbolt.x-scene.com/?p=tools and name it reptile.xpr . then stick it in the media folder along with the original textures and it will be available in the skin apperance options under theme

- The-Boxhead - 2009-04-09

lol is it that simple ?
Hmm gonna try that then. I've been having some problems with xpr express
but gonna try again.

- The-Boxhead - 2009-04-09

Okay trouble...

First of all i created a xpr file of the complete media folder wich contained
my changed textures and the rest of the complete aeon textures. Then i created a xpr file only containing my changed textures and nothing else.

this is then two XPR files: ReptileSmall.xpr and ReptileComplete.xpr.
I put both xpr files under media folder of aeon.

They both show up under "themes" in apperance settings. However
when i select any of them nothing gets changed.

So i decided to create a "textures.xpr" file of the complete original aeon media folder. Then i deleted everything under the media folder. Leaving only the following files there:

ReptileSmall.xpr
ReptileComplete.xpr
Textures.xpr

But then i get no textures at all, just fonts.

Anybody care to enlighten me here ? Is it my xpr files who is corrupt
or does aeon not read xpr files ?

- rudeboyx - 2009-04-09

try renaming your main texture.xpr without the capitol "T" then all you need is the reptilesmall.xpr to change theme. (i.e the theme xpr only needs to contain the different textures. any original unchanged textures will be taken from the textures.xpr)

O Yeah and make sure the "s" is on the end of texture - textures.xpr (iv made this mistake before and the result is no textures displayed)

or maybe your xpr is corupt
try rebuilding it and make sure you use normal compression and no other options apart from "no protect" if you want

- rudeboyx - 2009-04-09

What platform are you testing on because i know appletv has lots of problems with XPR'S

- rudeboyx - 2009-04-09

Iv just thought. are you compressing the MEDIA folder because you need to compress only the files and folders inside the MEDIA folder not the folder itself, although i think this is done by selecting the MEDIA folder itself when it asks you for the textures source

- Hitcher - 2009-04-09

Aeon uses the paths to display the images inside folders (ie calibration/calibrate-topleft-focus.png) so I assume that when you use a texture.xpr it simply can't find them.

- The-Boxhead - 2009-04-09

I'm running on windows vista.

yeah i bellive i have picked the media folder in xpr express, cant go any deeper than that... \media is my last folder in the source field of xpr express

Hitcher:
That is prolly the problem then. damn Wink
