Hmm. I'll look into it tonight when I get home.

Going back to 20110325 before installing 20110326 seems to have fixed my problem, it's working fine with your last build now.

I asked to a packager, a friend of mine, and he said that there's no switchs available (they've desactivated, so you'll have to ask to the xbmc team to enable them) but every xbmc official build can be decompressed using 7zip without any issue.

So maybe here's the solution ?

When I last extracted an .exe build using 7zip, it had some real strangeness. I just tested again, and there is some folder weirdness.
Code:
$_OUTDIR
$PLUGINSDIR
$TEMP

$TEMP contains;
Code:
dxsetup and vcredist_86.exe
Obviously the installers for dx and c++ dependencies.

$PLUGINSDIR contains;
Code:
modern-header.bmp
modern-wizard.bmp
nsDialogs.dll
StartMenu.dll
System.dll
I believe these are all NSI components and can be ignored.

$_OUTDIR contains a bunch of folders;
Quote:720p
backgrounds
Bursting Bubbles
cdrip
colors
Fonts
keymaps
language
media
metadata.albums.allmusic.com
metadata.artists.allmusic.com
metadata.common.allmusic.com
metadata.common.hdtrailers.net
metadata.common.htbackdrops.com
metadata.common.imdb.com
metadata.common.last.fm
metadata.common.themoviedb.org
metadata.mtv.com
metadata.themoviedb.org
metadata.tvdb.com
PictureIcon
players
python
repository.xbmc.org
screensaver.rsxs.euphoria
screensaver.rsxs.plasma
screensaver.xbmc.builtin.black
screensaver.xbmc.builtin.dim
screensaver.xbmc.builtin.slideshow
script.module.pil
script.module.pysqlite
script.recentlyadded
shaders
skin.confluence
visualization.dxspectrum
visualization.glspectrum
visualization.itunes
visualization.milkdrop
visualization.projectm
visualization.waveform
weather.xbmc.builtin
webinterface.debug
webinterface.default
webserver
xbmc.addon
xbmc.core
xbmc.gui
xbmc.metadata
xbmc.python
So this is a mix of the default addons as well as the Confluence skin's folders and some of XBMC's system folders.

Looks like it will need a list of every file in the setup and for each one of them, its destination regarding the installation directory.

- kricker - 2011-03-28

And hope nothing changes......

- Shadok - 2011-03-29

I don't think it would change between major releases Smile
But the best option is to have install switches available.

Has any one else experienced issues with the updater as of late? I updated recently using the updater and it killed my XBMC install that was working previously...XBMC now doesn't even fire-up, just crashes immediately with some error messages...

p.s. I'm running on windows 7 x64...

cheers,
Slice

not for me, I just updated the other day with no problems

Grab a nightly .exe installer and use it. See if that gets it working again.

i've had exactly the same happening here this week, tried it for 3 days: 20th (today), 19th and 18th of june. Installing an exe build fixes it. I've installed directx 9 redists as well, on a windows 7 home x64 machine, but that did not give results. Manually placing the missing directx files in the xbmc folder as suggested earlier, did not work either. So far, only installing via exe seems to fix the problem here.

Is this still active? It only see's 110703 but latest nightly (on download page) is 110705.

- kricker - 2011-07-06

I must be having build errors. I'll login and look at it later today.

- kricker - 2011-07-07

Something is definitely wrong. The build process is failing.

Sad Just stumbled upon this, would save me a lot of time updating my machines!
