Does it make any difference ?

If I'm not mistaken (as I've said before) xbmc resizes folder thumbs locally in its own cache.
I don't see why a 1280x720 image would be any different than a 860x1000 image as far as this cache is concerned...

Well also, large images can always be scaled down, small images don't scale up very well, 640x320 -/-> 1280x720 :p

The smaller you make them the worse they'll look when XBMC downscales them.

In addition if you make them small you can't upload them to thetvdb, which is where they are all going right now.

ha, i second that! may i ask what you're using as season thumbs and if maybe you could share them?

many thanks,

mass

just a thought... how come there are so many amazing 16:9 thumbs coming out for some pretty obscure shows at an astonishing rate but when we made the change to posters i could hardly find any? not complaining. everything looks amazing.

Right now I still have scans of the dvd cases. >.>
What I may to is grab group shots from each season and use them.
I'll let you know if I do anything of the sort, however I'm still focusing on getting all my series banners together. :p

awesome, thankyou. i was going to start taking episode screen grabs. is there much call for season thumbs here? i know you can just use fanart for the more popular shows but what about the slightly more obscure ones?

Well, currently I have only ripped season 1 to my HDD, so I don't really need them yet, but I'll see what I can come up with

The Sopranos
Miami Vice

I know xbmc caches thumbnails but does it definately cache a smaller version of "folder.jpg" cos i'm getting some serious lag since we started using these high res images.
