i'm going to leave the implementation in the skin up to the skinners/modders.
so once i'm finished you could ask them to also display those flags in list mode.

heya krypt2nite,I love all the mediaflagging, but one thing I would like to request for future mediaflag.xml files is an addition to check the studio tag for source info and not just the filename.. ive changed it manually in mine but to make it easier to update with the latest and not having to add to every (listitem.filename, blah blah) a | (listitem.studio) would make life easier Wink
cheers

azido Wrote:i guess this won't be useful on the "album view" or "artist view" level - only when showing the files themselves, right?
so this would mean that kind of flagging only works when you select at least one file.

yep. let's forget about that one then.

Quote:this is an interesting idea. if we are able to strip down a path to read i.e. DISC017 from let's say j:\offline-music\DISC017\adam and the ants-stand and deliver and just display DISC017 as a "text flag" (do we really need a graphical representation of the information?) this would be charming - at least for me.

too bad, i just checked and the folderpath is also only available when you select a song.
the folderpath appears to be empty when you select an artist and/or album.

Quote:yes, there is - i simply use 2 profiles with different sources, one for local media and one for "offline" media. the offline stuff is represented by dummy files on a local disc in a directory like above "j:\offline-movies, j:\offline-tvshows" and so on. i did not read my music collection into the library though, so i'm open-minded for any solutions to represent them in my library.

i'm afraid i'm currently out of suggestions on how to make this work.

Quote:maybe that will happen with the genre, too.. anyway, that's a faulty setting in the scraper then and should not happen that often. i know many albums are re-released from different companies again and again, but i don't think allmusic has 2 labels on one selected album, has it?

so far i've had no problems with genres, but yes, sometimes allmusic does list 2 labels.

Quote:i repeat: do we really need a graphical representation (an icon) to show up an information? i mean, we only want to see what kind of music is it.. no need to use graphics for genres since they don't represent a company. converting all the above ones will be an overkill and some of their text wouldn't even be readable.

anyway, if icons would make your life easier, i'm willing to create some simple ones using aeon's standard font (or maybe some other cool font) showing standard genres from within winamps list of genres.

i agree, the genre info could just as easy be displayed as a text label. the only reason why i was thinking about using an icon is, well, the rest of the movie/music flags are all icons too.

I'll look in to that. Sounds easy enough to put in there and not effect anything in a bad way. So basically check for bluray, sddvd, etc. in the studio tag?

Small Update:

Added about 11 new studios.

Includes_MediaFlags.xml
krypts_aeon_flags.zip

- DJ_Elo - 2009-05-19

exactly, ive used ure mediaflag.xml and just added an additional | in the cases where it checks for studio flag etc.. it might be handy to do a check though to see that not accidently two flags are used for source etc,but I havent noticed it yet in my collection

Amazing thread, I vote for a sticky.

Downloaded the build of aeon, the two xmls did what was in the post (exept MIP, that program is not working whatsoever), so I did my own studio line:
<studio>Warner Bros. Pictures / 720p / V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC / DTS / 6ch / / subeng / micd1 / mifc1</studio>

But it's not working Sad

Even renaming files with this tool (http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showpost.php?p=308639&postcount=1) didn't work! Sad

did you rescan the item to the library after making those modifications ?
otherwise xbmc wouldn't pick up the changes.

Yep, ofcourse. I even did flush the libaray and rescan it all over again. But only the studio's image comes up.

I also don't get these views: http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=328315&postcount=6 Sador aren't these in the xml files?

Thanks for the heads up. I forgot to put director instead of studio. New XML should fix it.

Here's my contribution to the Media Flagging project: Support for Music Media Flags.

In Album view it will display flags for Album Rating, Genre, Year and Record Label
In Song view it will show flags for Song Rating, Genre, Year and Audio Codec

It has currently support for over 20 different Audio Codecs and icons are included for 125 Record Labels.

As you can see, the genre flag is a text label for now, but if somebody is willing to provide a good genre icon set (hint), this can be changed very easily.

Note: for the Album Rating to work, you'll need at least XBMC r20596

You can download the files here or wait 'till Imaginos will incorporate it in his mod.

howto:
- put 'Includes_MusicMediaFlags.xml' in the 720p folder
- put the 'music' folder in the media/flags folder
- open includes.xml and add <include file="Includes_MusicMediaFlags.xml" /> to the list at the top.
- open 'MyMusicNav.xml' and add <include>MusicMediaFlags</include> at the bottom of the page, just above <include>Furniture_DarkGradient</include>
- you're done!

Again, thanks for the guide, I finally was able to update all my movies and applied the xml and media tags and rescanned and now I got media flags showing beautifully.
Thanks again krypt2nite
