[REQUEST] Media Flagging support in the MediaStream skin? - PiNCH - 2009-05-04

Hello there!

Just want to know if all hope of media flagging for mediastream is gone?
I've spent the last couple of days playing around with the Aeon skin, and while it's movie view is awesome, the TV view holds no ground to mediastreams atm.

But come to think about, mediastream does have almost every feature I need - except for the media flags! That's the only feature needed to make XBMC the ultimate HTPC!

IMO, the only thing mediastream needs are media flagging and the ability to hide rating for unwatched items (that, or atleast show the number of votes) - the latter I can live without, but the flags; when the library has been updated to support it, there's no going back! Big Grin

Lots are waiting for this as well. CapnBry has been working on it for a while but has been busy lately with his actual job. Read the last few pages of this thread.

Oh, didn't notice that thread!

But still, flags are really skin-specific atm, so if no one's working on them for MS yet, it'll probably be a while till we see some Sad
I'm sure this feature will be implemented in XBMC at some point - it's just that great - but I bet there's a lot of things that need taking care of first Wink

Yeah fingers-crossed for getting flags in Mediastream. I manually tagged all my movies and let it tag the TV shows but Aeon still only displays the flags on some of the movies for me.

Do you know which flags you're missing? mp3/DTS/BluRay etc.?

They're all in the media/flags folder and the .nfo's are all tagged, but I think the info like 1080p might also need to be in the filename, any idea if thats correct ?

Mine are in the file name as well, and they are working correctly with aeon

Once I get finished with MiniMeedia I'll be looking into adding media flags to MediaStream although I doubt I'll be going as far as Aeon.

I've been doing some coding for flags in MiniMeedia and don't want to get sucked into a 'if you name your media this way the skin will do this' scenario so am concentrating on the stuff that is already scraped (like studio and MPAA rating). I will probably be coding the MediaStream flags in a similar way so don't be expecting Blu-Ray 720p etc flags (unless XBMC is including CapnBry's code by then)

Nice. I've managed to get all four images to show up for some movies now so I'm getting there !

It really is a very nice feature...

In the meantime between now and further development, or me getting all mine fixed, I removed the default flag images because IMO it looks better without them, so if you are missing any your movies appear like so.. (bottom left). (edit: this has been added as an option.)

Navigate to XBMC/skin/Aeon/media/flags and delete the default 4 if you want to do this.

Damn, the source and ress flags are the only ones I really need - studio and rating doesn't really do anything for me (although it does look nice!).

So if there are no plans on getting these flags unless CapnBry's code is implemented, I have to stick with Aeon and its, in my opinion, less-than-superior TV view Sad

Come to think about it, as someone also pointed out in CapnBry's thread, would it be all that hard to add the flags manually? Just like we can tag watched/unwatched items?

As long as I can see the actual filename in MediaStream, it'd be no problem to just add the flags manually - this would be written to XBMC's db so when exporting it, the .nfo would hold this information so it could be imported when required?

I think I'd actually prefer the manual tagging, so if that could be possible, all would be well Big Grin

Now that Babylon has made final release here's hoping that means that the media tagging will make it into the main build pretty soon then Wink

you can just add them in yourself... I took the code from Aeon and played with it isn the showcase view of mediastream... worked fine for me... If you add missing tags (mp3, dts, ext.) you need to also add them to the code so the skin will check for them.

I havent had too much time to play with it but ot be honest it is farely simple to add them...

Thanks,
SoBBie
