Hey flxfxp I was stoked to try your deb since I had problems compiling my own but I'm running 64bit I don't supposed you've compiled a 64 bit version, have you? Is your patched source code available? maybe I'll have another go at compiling.

- flxfxp - 2009-10-14

you can find it at http://flx.me/script/bluez-patched-4.54.tar.gz. It holds a custom made tool called build-dep. If you do build-dep buildenv it will install everything needed to create a deb. If you do build-dep create, it will create a deb geared towards your system. You can also manually configure, make and make install ofcourse Smile

I have tried stopping bluetooth, doublechecking uinput is loaded rerunning bluetoothd but key pressing does nothing

Actually, the only thing I didn't do was reboot, will try that

edit2: rebooted, no dice, no action keypress

Dave, did you get thru this?

Ok i have tried bluez-patched-4.54 booth the precompield and then later compiling it myself. And it dosent work for me, the problem i get is from dmesg.

[43349.056745] bluetoothd[28793]: segfault at 656e6547 ip b7e69bcb sp bf96c3e0 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2000.1[b7e11000+b6000]
[43392.668026] bluetoothd[29068]: segfault at 504648 ip b7f0fbcb sp bf913e20 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2000.1[b7eb7000+b6000]

I am running ubuntu 9.04 first i thougth that my packages was outdated and did a full system uppgrade and then i tried to reinstall bluz-patched but still the same results.

Then i thougth that mabye my bluetooth dongle was not playing nice so i tried anotherone but still the same reults. Any clues on this one could it be appamor or similiar.

You other guys that cant get this to work please check dmesg and check if bluettothd segfaults for you to.

This isn't helping anyone, can you please elaborate how you got it fixed? This might help people in the future.

flxfxp : i will give another try later today. Which distrib do you use, ubuntu 9.04 minimal installation ?

Hope if i use the same distribution than you, it will work :)

I also took a look at XBMScript when you fix audio for asrock 330. I had issues too, with my zotac GEFORCE 9300 ITX and alsamixer. To fix this i had to update alsa to 1.0.21. I think you could add this to your script ;). (source : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6589810)

Edit : for DBUS problem, i found something interesting :) see here : http://markmail.org/message/sc37p3rauwvku5cb

Quote:Hi all,

First I started DBUS:

# dbus-daemon --system --print-address
unix:path=/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket,guid=bd671c01bf0366c80869f10000014a47

Then tried to start bluetoothd:

# bluetoothd -nd
bluetoothd[1795]: Bluetooth daemon
bluetoothd[1795]: Enabling debug information
bluetoothd[1795]: parsing main.conf
bluetoothd[1795]: offmode=NoScan bluetoothd[1795]: discovto=0
bluetoothd[1795]: pageto=8192
bluetoothd[1795]: name=%h-%d
bluetoothd[1795]: class=0x000100
bluetoothd[1795]: inqmode=0
bluetoothd[1795]: Unable to get on D-Bus

My bluez installation is placing bluetooth.conf at /etc/dbus-1/system.d/ but dbus is looking for files at /usr/etc/dbus-1/system.d!!!

I am posting it here because other people can get same problem.

Best Regards,

Alan

Il will give a try later

I just delete post with silly Dbus not found error. XBMCLive needed python-dbus to be installed prior script execution. Remote is still not working. Will check route provided by akex.

- akex - 2009-10-16

Didn't fix it yet.

Will try to manually patch bluez tonight ... Seems even with Xbmscript, the version of bluez is not the one patched ...

- akex - 2009-10-16

It seems it works now Smile ...

when i tried to install before it seems bluetoothd wasn't overwritten (see timestamp in /usr/sbin/). So i removed bluez and installed it (after patching myself et compilation). It installed bluetoothd in /usr/local/sbin/ so i changed configuration of bluetooth (sudo nano /etc/init.d/bluetooth)

And now it works flawlessly Big Grin

Good to hear!

flxfxp Wrote:ruff, if you have the time, could you please look into this and reply?
Hi, just checked on my setup - works like a charm, have set timeout to 30 sec - it disconnects in 30 sec. Check with -nd flags if daemon sees the file - there should not be lines in debug like
Parsing /etc/bluetooth/input.conf failed: No such file or directory

- dc2447 - 2009-10-20

Is it worth updating the first post with the updated instructions?

- flxfxp - 2009-10-20

everything should now work correctly. There isn't a new manual needed since the last instructions I gave are perfectly fine, I've set the timeout in fakehid.c to 180 (aka 3 minutes), which is better imho. It's just that some people have the error "Can't get on D-Bus". Any idea what this means?

- lozbrown85 - 2009-10-21

Is there any chance we can get the first post updated with all the details of what is required to get the PS3BD remote working from start to finish?
(or move to wiki, or start a new post)

The information is a little fragmented here...
