Zotac ION (NVIDIA 9400/ATOM CPU) Mini-ITX motherboard with XBMC for Linux and VDPAU? - BLKMGK - 2009-05-12 17:39 http://hothardware.com/Articles/Zotac-NVIDIA-Ion-Motherboard/ Looks to be dual core and NVIDIA equipped. Board for builders powered by a wall brick - sweet! Who's going to go first?

It's rumoured to be $303 - eek! We too had an excited look into this yesterday, it's very tasty indeed. We also went down an avenue of the fit-pc2 which uses the even lower powered Z530 chip and integrated GMA500 graphic (Silverthorne chipset?), reputeduly capable of 1080p playback... all for 6W. Unforunately, they forgot that people might want better than stereo sound on their HTPC/XBMC, so it's a fail. - BLKMGK - 2009-05-12 18:40 Umm, article I posted says it will run about $180 - that's reasonable. Comes iwth the AC/DC power brick for that price. that article had it playing back 1080 content on Winders, Linux with the right drivers ought to be just fine I'd think. If I needed another box and could find one of these for sale I'd jump on one. Optical out, HDMI, DVI, I think I spotted coax output as well. I don't see anything about this particular board not to like other than limited availability right now.... I guess time will tell... Oh, not interested in Intel graphics unless they have had MAJOR advances.
- AshsToAshs - 2009-05-12 19:07 Now the challenge is finding a nice tiny case that DOESNT have a space for a built in powersupply. Anyone seen a case like that? -Ash- - kimp93 - 2009-05-12 21:54 another review from Anand http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3562 - eriksmith200 - 2009-05-12 23:02 AshsToAshs Wrote:Now the challenge is finding a nice tiny case that DOESNT have a space for a built in powersupply. check the store on http://www.mini-itx.com for some options [edit]the zotac is featured on the main page[/edit] - joebrady - 2009-05-13 18:49 http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=54 Looks like they are going to offer sets w/ the MD, the case, memory and wireless for under 400$. - CrashX - 2009-05-13 19:15 I wonder how much Zotac version without powersupply and wifi but have intel 330 cpu will cost ? $180 - $10( wifi ) - $40 ( dc power supply ) = $130 ? - thebitjockey - 2009-05-14 01:56 Well.. once i can find someone shipping this, i'll be ordering one. I've been waiting for an ION based system/board to move from XBOX to a more powerful platform as I can do higher quality video. |
