kasbah Wrote:This does not work. It simply interrupts the audio and video , i.e. you get a gap in the audio and the image freezes shortly, but does not skip forward. Fast forward works better! Should I file an issue about this?

Thanks alot for your help dink!

The functionality was only introduced recently so please do make sure you are using a build with at least r21929 (if on Linux or Windows). For xbox grab the latest T3CH build. See http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=379549&postcount=101

Okay, seriously, I give up.

I've tried this over and over and over and I'm sick of it, every time I try to run this it keeps giving me an error when I try to connect to a channel.

Failed to fetch url...whatever

I've followed the instructions for installing to the letter, I've used so many builds I've lost count (I upgraded from a 3 yr old build just to install it) and I'm at the end of my tether. What the hell am I doing wrong?!?

I think it might be the installation, but seeing as I've followed every guide to the letter I can't see where I'm going wrong, the only thing that makes me think this is the fact I'm having similar success with SVN Repo.

HELP! Sad

Ok, I need you to post an xbmc.log so I can get a detailed look at the problem as currently I don't even know what platform, or build you are using or even if you are in the UK.

http://pastebin.com/ is a good place to put up a log

DNS lookup for feeds.bbc.co.uk failed: 11001

This looks like the problem. You xbox isn't setup properly for DNS.

see http://www.xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Network_Settings for more info

Is it possible to download for later playback with this?

I want to watch a show but do not have time to do so, but am wondering if I could download it for later viewing as I know it will not be there forever on iPlayer.

Nope, this plugin is for streaming only. You need to use some other software for downloading support.

New feature suggestion - zackpliskin - 2009-10-14

Hey developers!

Love your plugin fellas - it's evolving nicely. Especially happy you can skip through the streams too. Great for watching programs without having to rely on the scheduling!

One thing I think it could do with though; some sort of "saved search" or "favourites" function. This could take commonly searched for programs and check for them upon launching the plugin or something like that. YouTube 3.4c script saves your searches; I'm hoping it isn't hard to implement?

Anyway, keep up the good work!

I'll look into it

I've now upgraded to T3CH r23183 on XBOX and I still can't get skip to work.

I took a look at the log and it was full of database errors, so I reverted to a clean UserData to rule that out - i.e. effectively a new install of XBMC.

Basically, after adding IPlayer to the video sources, I did this:

Selected TV.
Selected BBC One.
Selected Cash in the Attic (yeah, yeah - just testing...)
Selected an Episode.

The XBOX runs the HD for a while (10 seconds+), then finally shows 0.00/57.30 in the bottom left. Nothing happens until I press the Play button, and then it fires into life.

If I then hit Up to skip 10 minutes, the picture corrupts, then after 2 seconds or so, the pause display comes up and is stuck at 00:10 and "Buffering" appears. Nothing then happens until I press Play again, at which time it does start at 10 minutes in.

If I press Up again, it all just hangs.

I've tried this on two seperate Xboxs with identical results.

Something is definitely afoot.

Here's the log I recovered:

Log

Hopefully that helps!

I compiled the newest XBMC and installed the IPlayer plugin through the SVN repo installer on another system (my laptop is for work anyway!) and it seems to work much better. Sometimes it will crash during "seeking" or pausing but it is a very underpowered system and generally it works ok.

Many thanks!

So no chance downloading will ever be included? Would be a great addition particulary for people with low bandwidths.

Glad to hear you have a just about sorted your problem. Just 2 thing to note
1) the SVN version of XBMC isn't always stable so the odd crash could be be due to living on the edge.
2) even on an underpowered system if you manage to install an NVidia 8xxx or 9xxx series card under linux you can make use of the GPU to do the H.264 decoding via VDPAU. Suddenly even an underpowered system can easily play the BBC IPlayer 720p streams.
