iPlayer not playing all shows - njlouch - 2010-06-07

I've been a long time user of xbmc from back in the Xbox days, through usage on a mac and now onto windows. But only recently got into the plugins side of things...

I've downloaded and installed the iPlayer plugin, and for the most part it works well. However some shows it just refuses to play.

Case in point, the new Doctor Who shows. I select one and it goes through the motions of selecting the stream, buffering, and then nothing - it simply does not play it.

Any other I select, and it plays instantly...

I gave it a week, and tried again, same thing. Even though it was now a different episode of Doctor Who... It almost seems like something is stopping me viewing this show...

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You may want to have a look at this thread . . .

To be honest, I just spent the last hour or so reading through that thread, and am a little lost.

I think I learned that it's in hand but no Windows patch has been released?

Hey, I just posted this in another thread and it has been suggested I post here:

I've read this thread and from my understanding, this is being looked into but no Windows development is being done?

Anyone getting this?

- exobuzz - 2010-06-08

if you have an xbox, you can use iplayer with my build. I also did a build for linux that includes the librtmp patches. I've not compiled any of my changes for windows. the RTMP stuff will go into trunk for the next release probably, with the librtmp stuff compiled into ffmpeg.

I apologise if this has already been answered somewhere but this thread is huge and i can't find an answer!..

I've updated to the latest Iplayer plugin from the vn repo installer, i've also used the auto XBC updater to put me on the latest SVN and i still have this problem.

ANY video i play from any channel or category will only play for about 2 - 3 minutes and then just quits..

Is this down to the RTMP streams or buffer cache or... anything else?

I've tried this on all stream qualities by the way... Huh

I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate if that makes any difference.

IPlayer is not working on xbmc for windows. You need an xbmc build with the new libRTMP functionality along with a modified IPlayer plugin (not the one from the svn repository). This is only possible right now if you have linux, xbox, or are able to compile your own version for windows. The functionality will be included in all versions of xbmc when the main developers get around to it (I believe soon)

- danmedhurst - 2010-06-08

OK, that makes alot more sense now Smile

- njlouch - 2010-06-08

OK, noob question...

Compiling for windows - that's like recompiling the XBMC.exe from source?

Yeah, that's beyond me Wink

Thanks for the answer though. Is this likely to be fixed anytime soon?

- exobuzz - 2010-06-08

yup. compiling from the source, and including the needed patches.

I can only say "soon". I don't know anything more than that. I don't know how long soon is either.

BBC iPlayer - m3d0c - 2010-06-09

Hi,

I have installed the iPlayer plugin and it seems to only play any content for about a minute before retuning to the program list. Anybody know how to fix this?

- spiff - 2010-06-09

yell at the bbc.

Well, everyone kind of know how to fix but in reality it cannot be done, unless BBC itself wish to help. It's a very well-know issue - attack BBC and Adobe, if you can. Big Grin
