Please can you double check you had aac set as a preference (and didnt set it on 2.4.2 and then upgrade and not check). when i played the same stream you did with aac set - get "16:56:38 T:139676587108096 M:2953777152 NOTICE: iplayer2.py: INFO Playing preference aac" but you had "wma"

- Hitcher - 2011-03-02

It seems to say that whatever I use.

iplayer2.py: INFO Playing preference wma

strange. could you try deleting your settings ?

- Hitcher - 2011-03-02

Same thing.

The settings say -

<setting id="audio_stream" value="2" />

The debug log says -

iplayer2.py: INFO Playing preference wma

- exobuzz - 2011-03-02

and provider is set to any (or 0 in settings config) ?

very odd. could you give me the md5sums of

454f3201610f01fd24ac80ffde5c8a84 lib/iplayer2.py
dfa03474036b19b137c2517a2b17ca67 default.py

just to make sure we are running the same code.
I was testing with radio 1 "Annie mac: nero and Ed banger in the place" and it is playing the aac version (and i have aac set in prefs).
its also worth deleting the iplayer_http_cache.

so as we don't spam this thread too much, please email me buzz [at] exotica.org.uk and ill debug this with you - i have some more code to put on svn for you to try.

If you instead set xbmc to "play" as default select action then they will play. So it appears, for me at least, the playback problem is caused by the addon using the default select action and failing to loads video from the show info page. I notice other video addons don't take you to the video info page when you hit select even if this is your default select action. Maybe this could be changed for this plugin to work? As a workaround, If, like me, you like having your default select action set to show info (for use with movies, tv shows etc.) then you should use the play button to playback videos in the iplayer addon and not use select. This way videos will playback fine. Wow, thanks ever so much. Did the trick. TV / Radio live streams working perfectly as are catch programmes and BBC HD looking great!! Thanks, much appreciated!!

No problem :-)

Since realising this i have gone back to test some other video addons that didn't work for me and a lot of them behave in the same way.

Small request: could you possibly change the name of the plugin from "IPlayer" to "BBC iPlayer" or "iPlayer". The capitalisation of the i really irks me.
(apart from that though, this plugin is incredible, thanks very much)

plugin.video.iplayer and XBMC HTTP server - zygotic - 2011-03-04

Hi

Have tried searching this thread and checked the Google repository issues and not found anything on this. I can raise an issue there with logs if you like, but:

Anybody aware of a problem using the IPlayer plugin and the XBMC HTTP server / remote front end?

I have version 2.4.2 of the plugin. I may well be on XBMC 10.0-0.5, or that may be the package version (which is from debian-multimedia.org). The version line in XBMC.log is:

Linux (Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 (squeeze), 2.6.32-5-amd64 x86_64). Built on Jan 7 2011 (SVN:Unknown)

Symptoms are a segfault/core dump from XBMC when starting the IPlayer plugin, if the HTTP server is enabled. Disabling the HTTP server prevents the segault and lets the plugin work.

As I said, if this isn't a known thing I'll do a proper report with logs on the repository tracker.

not a known issue, but any "crash" is going to be an xbmc bug.

Hitcher: the iplayer on your repository has some old redundant files that should not longer be there (the socksipy folder). Also, other files are out of date from the actual 2.4.5 release. your sock.py in httplib is missing the proxy code, your settings.xml looks old too.

[edit]

following files are out of date compared to the 2.4.5 release

? - should be removed
M - outdated file

? lib/socksipy
M lib/live_tv.py
M lib/httplib2/__init__.py
M lib/httplib2/socks.py
M lib/iplayer2.py
M resources/media/radio.png
M resources/media/settings.png
M resources/media/search.png
M resources/media/popular.png
M resources/media/tv.png
M resources/media/highlights.png
M resources/media/listenlive.png
M resources/media/categories.png
M resources/language/English/strings.xml
M icon.png

(which would explain the problems you had before and also the proxy changes not working for another user)

we can do a maintenance release of 2.4.6 to force an upgrade for those that have already downloaded it perhaps.

- Hitcher - 2011-03-04

Good idea, let me know when it's ready and I'll update the repo.

Thanks.

- exobuzz - 2011-03-05

it would be worth replacing your current 2.4.5 in the meantime btw, to avoid further problems. there is a 2.4.6. on svn if you wanted to pull from there - only a version number change, and a minor change in one of the functions - but mostly just the version bump. it doesnt have the IPlayer -> iPlayer rename though yet ;-) (I'm sure those that mind will manage!)

- rutilus - 2011-03-05

Hello,

I've just installed the iPlayer plugin on a fresh install of the latest XBMC4Xbox build. It runs just fine - I get the "UK only" warning box, the list of stations/categories etc - but when I choose a channel I get a network error message as follows:

Failed to fetch http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bbc_one/list

for every channel (with the /bbc_one part replaced by the relevant channel info). When I click OK on that message, there's just an empty directory with a note saying that no files are available - please try later.

Any idea what might cause this problem? I've tried looking in the settings section and settings.xml for a way to change the feed URL, but beyond this I have no idea where to start looking. I'm new around here and I'd be very grateful indeed for any help!

R.
