Bram77 Wrote:After using the app for some time now, I have some suggestions for improvements...

1. Agreed, it could be faster. Plus we experience memory issues because we are loading everything at once Wink
We're looking hard at improving the lists before market release, freezy is on it currently and doing a lot of changes.

2. You can add files to the playlist...
Even though you can only add single files, queue whole folder is planned.

3. We want to have our tabs remember which one was the last acitve, so if you reenter the lib the last tab will come up. I think that would fit your need Wink

4. It should at least come up in the lists... I can't test it, the long-press-menu-for-keyboard is an android workaround for not having a real keyboard. A better keyboard support is planned and I've already done some testing and found a bug, see a few posts up.

5. Yeah, we use the event server to just send volume up or down and we dont get any response... we would have to query the http api to get that -> new thread... I want it too but it's really way down to the buttom of my list Wink

6. planned too

We are all using Eclipse due to the android plugins... or are those available for Netbeans too? I would say Eclipse should be the IDE of choice, even though it's hunger for memory is unlimited.

If you need help come to freenodes #xbmc-linux channel and look for the_alien.

Thanks for the feedback

Great news! Smile I'm looking forward to the next release.

The Android plugin for NetBeans is easy to install! http://wiki.netbeans.org/IntroAndroidDevNetBeans
I've worked witch Eclipse/Aptana for years (I'm a professional PHP developer). Switched to NetBeans about a year ago. It really is much better and offers the same features.

One more suggestion...
In file mode other files then media files are displayed. The HTTP api allows you to query only for specific media files (music; video; files that are recodnised by XBMC as media files). XBMC filters the unwanted files out. This would bring down the number of results and thus speed things up a bit.

Nazgulled Wrote:If that were the case, starting with a fresh %APPDATA%\XBMC folder would probably fix it, which is not the case as I just tried.

I also tried to uninstall and delete everything on my HTC Hero related to XBMC Remote. Reinstalled and configured everything again, still no dice...

Glad I'm not alone in this problem (sorry b00sted4fun) Tongue

you ever figure out what was wrong? I swear I am just missing a setting somewhere as it worked before I updated XBMC.

the_alien Wrote:As you might have read: "This is still considered as "in development". Once we're happy with it, we'll put it on the Android Market."
We're working hard on it to have it stable enough to put it onto the Android Market, but right now the versions are not stable enough to do so. But it might not be so far off Smile
As you see, there is not too much missing on the features list. Mikkle just put the picture support into SVN yesterday!
"Features until Market release
General

* Implement TV shows library
* Implement pictures
* Boxee compatibility "

PS: Yeah, I should work and not check the forum and wright long answers Wink

I must admit it is nice to see a developer(s) take pride in their work, lots of people would have slapped it on the market as soon as it was built, rather than trying to get it working exactly the way they want first.

Well anyways, I think its fantastic, so keep up the good work Smile

I've compiled the latest revision from source. Great speed improvements in library/file browsing Smile Keep up the good work!

- freezy - 2010-01-25

Yeah, now I just have to fix all the bugs I've introduced Wink

- StarChild - 2010-01-25

What bugs? Rolleyes

Keep up the good work devs! Smile

Hey I'm using the newest .63 with camelot official and my nexus one and I'm getting this error on my phone: I/O Excepton (java.io FileNotFoundException) http://192.168.200.38:8080/xbmcCmds/xbmcHttp?command=GetSystemInfo(120)

it's the correct ip and port and I have the right user/pass setup in the app.. I saw someone mention an eventserver port but I don't see a place to set that in camelot. btw if anyone needs me to test anything on a Nexus One with android 2.1 I'm game

edit: in xbmc settings/network I have allow control of xbmc over http enabled.. and I have let programs on other computers control xbmc enabled.. and I have the port and user pass set correct..

- the_alien - 2010-01-26

It has nothing to do with the eventserver, the eventserver is just for the remote controls like the remote screen or the volume keys.

1. You did enable the http server?
2. You are connected to you wireless lan?
3. Could you post the android log with the stacktrace?

- StarChild - 2010-01-26

What happens if you write http://192.168.200.38:8080/xbmcCmds/xbmcHttp?command=GetSystemInfo(120) in your web-browser?

- Yakyb - 2010-01-27

guys just to thanks for the great app

i have been using this on the HTC tattoo and the only issue appears to be that the remote is a little big in vertical orientation

else everything appears fine

bar Library being a little slow however from what i can see you may have updated this

i would add the tattoo to the supported list

- djurny - 2010-01-27

any news on using the android (g1 device) keyboard with xbmc?
i recently bought another remote/keyboard (mosart ps3 remote keyboard) but encountered some weird and unforeseen issues with keymapping of the media remote keys Sad
having the g1 act as a true remote keyboard would be just the thing i am looking for Smile

Jarny Wrote:And at the end a question: When I am in filemode and I choose a folder. How can I play the whole folder? There is no option to put the selected folder into the playlist, right?

Jarny

I have to ask again because nobody consider my question from 6th December Eek. Do you plan to implement this feature? Without this feature xbmc remote is unusable for filemode users. Nobody would select a new single song everytime after playing a single song.

Jarny

on my mental TODO. place a ticket if you want to be sure.

- Popeye - 2010-01-28

I'm having some serious problems getting a connection when using the remote. I turn on wireless start the app and get the warning about settings, even tried browsing the net and starting other apps verifying I have a local IP and access. Any other users experiencing this or is it my (soon to be released) android phone causing this?
What logs should I get to sort this out?
Great app btw!
