Try uninstalling HTE and reinstalling it... - steppedup - 2010-01-26

So the reason it's hanging is because of an access violation:

19:29:07 T:3752 M:2788139008 DEBUG: CImageLoader:Big GrinoWork - took 138 ms to load special://masterprofile/Thumbnails/Video/Fanart/e9d96342.tbn
19:29:07 T:3804 M:2788618240 ERROR: CThread:ConfusedtaticThread : Access violation at 0x7729ac0f: Reading location 0x6731c712

And this happens after the HTE script gets run as you said.

I can't really tell from the log if HTE script is properly closing or not from the first time.

So, the access violation's root-cause might be from HTE - or something else.

Hmmm...

My recommendation is to first uninstall HTE, reboot your computer, bring up XBMC, close XBMC. Then, try to play the movie twice without HTE.

If you still have an issue, use the App Verifier to see where your access violation is occurring (never used it, but looks like it would do the trick). Or simply kill everything out of your system start-up menu, including msconfig.

If you don't still have an issue, reinstall HTE, and reconfigure it per specs.

Sorry I couldn't nail it down precisely - I'm an old hand at trouble-shooting, but brand-new to XBMC and HTE. Smile

Hi all - I've put together a quick batch job to delete all files older than 30 days on a Windows box. This will address a concern some folks had about the awesome script, Apple Trailer Downloader by Therms (thank you! Smile ).

Complete write-up is here.

I've highlighted the section where the batch job is - just look for this highlighted section:

But...the only problem with atd - it doesn't delete old files (and it's really not a problem unless you are slightly obsessive-compulsive like me Smile).
Otherwise, follow the complete guide if you're just starting out.

Thanks so much for your kind efforts....seems as though something is a little borked in my HTE setup.

Tried everything you suggested - but still get the hangs every time call HTE twice in a row.

(Without HTE I can start any movies 100s times in a row without error....it always hangs on HTE's "setting up playlist" popup screen)
Couldn't get appverifier to provide any useful info.

I deleted the HTE folder from my scripts section as well as the HTE scriptdata folder. Anything else I can do to do a truly clean re-installation?

It does seem like the problem has something to do with the previous instance of HTE not quitting properly...

Anyway, I can live with that issue for now as it does always run properly the first time. But is there any clue in that log as to why the "watched" status is not being applied to my local trailers?

Incidentally as soon as i get this sorted your .bat file for auto deleting old trailers will be totally genius. I too am OCD to the extent where having to do so manually would definitely have made be pretty sad!

Intro Movies - Constructacon - 2010-01-28

Here are some intro movies for everyone. The first is a world zoom movie that I.... uhhh...... found (I would certainly never sample someone else's music). The second one I made with royalty free music samples. I have included a YouTube link to preview and a link to download the 720p quicktime file. Let me know what you think of them.

How to launch or kill XBMC by clicking on the Green Microsoft button of an MCE remote - steppedup - 2010-01-28

This actually is related to HTE, because a lot of us are spending a lot of time troubleshooting.

When troubleshooting XBMC, the XBMC team recommends that you close out XBMC and relaunch XBMC after each troubleshooting step so as to keep the debug log short and easy to read.

This procedure allows you to do that much quickly and easily than using your mouse to close out XBMC - and really helps to get rid of the keyboard once everything's working smoothly.

Code is below - and full write-up with script and fully compiled versions are here. Hope it helps someone!

Setting up Playlist - thecrazyone - 2010-01-29

Hi
I really like the idea of your script but i cant get it to work:
I am running XBMC Camelot (no beta version) for just a few days on Windows 7 and there are no problems when watching movies in normal mode. Then i found that nice script, downloaded the SVN Repo Installer and loaded the newest Home Theater Experience. All i want for the moment is to play 1 intro before each movie.
- Adding a movie to queue, then run the script --> Setting up Playlist, nothing happens after that
- Adding a button to the movie info page --> Setting up Playlist, again nothing happens

What i noticed:
- When adding a movie to queue it wont show up in "now playing" but when hitting "space" in my movie folder
- After running the script both playlists are empty, even when hitting "space"
- Adding more than one movie, hit "space" and "enter" results in all movies being played in the correct order
- Even while watching one or more movies they are not shown in "now playing"
- "now playing" works fine when listening to music

Please enable your debug log and upload it to pastebin.ca - steppedup - 2010-01-29

Set the Trivia to 5 minutes in the script settings. Set the trailer to just one trailer.

Then enable debugging...(System...System...Debugging...Check Enable Debug logging.)

Escape back to start, exit XBMC.

Restart XBMC.

Go to movie....right-click Movie Information...Click on Theater button.

Let the script launch and let it run for long enough so that everything should have played through, and the movie started (10 minutes- depending on what trailers you've selected.)

Then close XBMC and load debug logs from C:\Users\(your username on your computer)\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\xbmc.log to http://pastebin.ca/.

Grab link and post back here.

Thanks for your answer, but i was able to find the error on my own:
i decided to completly redo everything stepp by stepp and it looks like a reinstallation of Home Theater Experience solved all problems (it was the third reinstallation^^)
I also was able to add a Theater button to Aeon and solved another problem that might occour:
-After starting the script, the intro was played but there was only sound and a black screen or it returned to the movie folder while playing sound and black screen in the background
-Solution: Remove your intro folder from "Videos" and add it again
--> works fine now!

lboyce Wrote:I'm having the exact same issue as you are. Recently upgraded to Windows 7, installed stable build of Camelot and the newest HTE script and the same thing happens. Says it's setting up playlist and then nothing happens. Running it on confluence, which before worked without a hitch. Getting frustrated.

The only thing I noticed is that, when I ran the debug mode the last entry always says "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'movie_title' referenced before assignment"

Same error here. No clue what's up.

(solution) Trivia music was playing, but no trivia slides - just flickering - steppedup - 2010-01-30

Tried resetting Watched Trivia . No dice.

Manually went in and deleted contents of C:\Users\username\APPDATA\XBMC\userdata\script_data\Home Theater Experience\trivia_watched.txt - everything between []

Problem solved.

For some reason, resetting Watched trivia appears to be not working in the script for me. Anyone else run into this?

Love the plugin. I went through most of the posts here and didnt see this link. Its to quite a few of the old drive in ads and intermissions etc. YES FOLKS THESE ARE FREE. If you feel like giving some money away give it to the devs of XBMC.

Same error here!

I ran into this as well and eventually fixed it....somethingsa to try - steppedup - 2010-02-01

If you're using Mccorkle's Home Theater Pack, make sure to rename the Audio(Dolby, DTS folder, Other) folder to just "Audio".

If that doesn't work, can you remove all variables - and then post your debug logs to pastebin.ca - bringing the link back here?

Removing all variables- turn off the trivia slide show, and show only 1 random video for say...feature presentation intro.

If that runs successfully, then keep adding in variables going with only 1 random video for each movie selection.

Finally, then add in the trivia section.

Let me know what your were able to play - and what finally what broke it.

Also - please make one change, and stop and restart xbmc - this keeps the debug log small.

And I only need the last debug log from the time that it breaks.
