I meant no "activate subtitle button" button in skin settings Tongue

I tried to remove xbmc, downloaded the deb package, installed it, now xbmc went *poof* all together blah now what did i do wrong, i just downloaded and installed the linux version from the nightly build link you gave earllier

*edit*

I ran xbmc in terminal and the XBMC logo popped up then it closed and wrote http://pastebin.com/m78ef63f8 that error log

well you have to give us a bit more info, "*poof* " is not really an explanation as to what happened to your installation Smile

try installing again.

or try and explain in more detail what is happening to XBMC. I dont run it on Linux so I might not be able to help you but I am sure someone will.

maybe you want to ask for assistance here. they will certainly be able to help you.

Tongue by *poof* i meant all the quickstart icons dissapeared, not in application database thing anymore either, all i did was completely remove the "old" version of xbmc (from the package manager i just deleted xbmc + extra's it uses) then downloaded the nightly build deb pack, unzipped, double clicked, clicked install after it sayed done there were no quickstart icons or whatever, wen i run xbmc in terminal i get the black screen with the logo then it closes and writes above posted error log

Well i tried, it did go thru but 90% of the time the screen is all distorted (hundereds of horizontal lines, like you get wen your screens broken) and the one time i did get the normal screen it was using 100% cpu so couldent check anything

and it keeps saying this in terminal:
CRITSEC[0x8ab2984]: Trying to enter destroyed section.
CRITSEC[0x8ab2984]: Trying to leave destroyed section.
CRITSEC[0x8ab45a0]: Trying to enter destroyed section.
CRITSEC[0x8ab45a0]: Trying to leave destroyed section.

Ok i installed the version you suggested and it starts up normally again (still sometimes goes into 100% cpu mode but oh well) loaded the svn installer thing from my favorites, went to xbmc-xbox-skins (or something like that) installed Trans. all went well. I exited the program, restarted and nothing changed, still no subtitle button i can enable (just a lyrics one) no changes in the skin either it just doesent stick for some reason..

go here, chose download.

unpack it.

copy this to the skins folder

open XBMC go to settings

Find this settings page.

on the left click Scripts

select enable Subtitle button

and finally choose the path to the OpsnSubtitles_OSD script

you need to reach the "Skripts" directory under your user name... Not sure what it looks like on Linux. Maybe Ronie would know.
