i've been on an oldish gl build for a while (gave dx a test afew weeks back), installed the newest dx last night.

truehd is working, bluray subs are working (and look great, a bit stretched on my gl install), and the aspect ratio is sorted.

brilliant work, and a thanks for all the effort put in, dx is now my default!

Seriously?

looks like the builds are getting closer to be good again.

Got it sorted.. apparently my graphics used to sleep every 5 minutes.. Some kind of power management feature in the new nvidia drivers which caused this..

seriously!, build 23535. playing the .m2ts from the US Ironman bluray straight from disc (with anydvd running) the subtitles and sound work great.

also tried my region free casino royale and it also works (subs) and sound (although this one only has LPCM so no TrueHD).

on the gl build the subs are fine unless i siwtch language and they get stretched horizontally. on dx they are perfect!

When you say TrueHD is working, do you mean it is being bitstreamed over HDMI to your receiver, or is it just being decoded as LPCM and then sent over HDMI/analog connections?

It's decoded not bitstreamed afaik.

A slightly off topic and I'm not as up to date as I once was with this kind of thing but...

Will the DX version use CPU or GPU processing power? ie will the DX version allow HD video on a Atom system with Nvidia Ion?

I'm thinking that DX uses the CPU to decode just like GL does but in a more economic fashion. But I'm not sure.

It's just rendering everything via directx instead of openGL. That doesn't mean anything for hardware video acceleration. Currently on Windows, both use the CPU though GPU acceleration could of course be added in the future.

analog output, so being decoded. before it was not playing properly, maybe its been fixed for a while, but it was a nice suprise nonetheless!

I was under the impression that TrueHD was added to ffmpeg a while back, and I think it's been in xbmc for at least the last while...doesn't work properly with >5.1 streams, but that's to be expected for now I suppose.

I moved to DX build 23548 today from GL 22027, so far no real issues to speak of. Things seem to be working as they should as far as I can see. Played a couple of my 1080p HD-DVD -> FLAC rips with no issues. Watching a DVD-rip right now (Star Wars...heh) Looks like I might be able to go back to trying out the nightly's again. Smile Feels like it's been forever!

on the skinner's side there is a new issue: flip animations do not work on recent builds like they should - when starting any media, an assigned flip animation does not work - only on stop.

but surely that's nothing an end user with a standard skin should be afraid of Tongue

Thats great news, quite surprising as I only tested Blu Ray about two weeks ago. For true HD bitstreaming a Radeon series 5 graphics card is required as the series 4 does what you are talking about in this regard - The original PS3 does the same multichannel LPCM from DTS or Dolby HD sources interestingly enough.

- jmarshall - 2009-10-12

Animations work just as they always have.

I'm having a huge problem in xbmc, its very slow in recent builds (when changing the fanart, it get better if i turn the fanart off ) . i've tested on v23333

and now on v23548

will try the GL build to see if it is a DX build issue, or its for both versions!

for sure my pc does have changed a bit!

3ghz p4 HT
1gb Ram
Ati 9550

edit: same behavion in GL verions!

not sure what is happenig!

Ps: im using the theme MediaStream Redux

returned for a older version 232somethink, its working better but not as before dx era!

its very strange becouse video playback is much better but interface is so much worse!
