Pioneer ETap? GUI looks like XBMC, does it use GPL source code or just a copied skin? - Rardgerard - 2009-09-11

Looks like it has many of the features that XBMC has. Of course it is not flexible and customizable. This is where XBMC is heading. It will be interesting to see the price tag.

Here are some videos on it:

What do you all think?

You sure about that Rolleyes

I guess not. It will probably eventually get hacked. It is Linux based.

Anyone else notice how eerily close the dialogs look like MediaStream.

Pioneer ripping off mediastream? - migueld - 2009-09-11

I was looking at Pioneer's Blu-ray Managed Copy video demo when I saw striking resemblance to Mediastream, and in fact XBMC. Which makes me wonder quite a few things.. are they using XBMC? Also, did Pioneer rip off Mediastream. I see far too many similarities between their interface and mediastream. And it's not just appearance, if you look at the video, you can see the UI transitions also suspicious.

Digital copy - Rardgerard - 2009-09-14

Does anyone have a clue on how the digital copy will work? And for that matter how XBMC will handle it?

DRM'd, so fuck handling it.

Won't it just be like a .m2ts file?
