BTV support is claimed for XBMC - outleradam - 2009-10-06

The wiki says BeyondTV is supported through uPnP. http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=UPnP_Sharing

I can't get it to work. What do I need to do? I don't see it in my uPnP list. Is this an error?

upnp only works with windows i think so if you are running linux your out of luck. Also remember to enable upnp in xbmc settings.

- spiff - 2009-10-06

bollocks. upnp works fine in linux.

- The-Boxhead - 2009-10-06

sorry then Wink as i said. upnp works perfectly in linux.

Anyways... I'm running a all windows network with a XBOX as my media center. I can't get the darn thing to connect up and I really doubt that it's even possible.

- elupus - 2009-10-10

xbox is not uptodate on upnp i think. (absolutely not for the latest updates). and xbox has very little support at all nowadays. only one developer on it.

outlerdam: could you please try xbmc on windows or linux against the beyondtv upnp server?

Ps... The xbox has one huge limitation when it comes to upnp, it doesn't support multicast which is an essential part of upnp. We try to cheat by using broadcast, but not all servers like that.

I have XBMC installed on the same computer as BTV. I don't see the server. Would it be able to connect like that?

- elupus - 2009-10-13

It should see servers on the local machine yea (unless BTV is doing something stupid)

- outleradam - 2009-10-14

ok, does it work on XP? I guess I'm having problems with my XP machine. I can see it on my windows vista machine

- elupus - 2009-10-15

can't see any reason for it not to work on XP.. I tried looking on beyondtv's home page, but can't see it mention upnp anywhere.. i did see a mention of some plugin for it to enable that...

- outleradam - 2009-10-18

The uPnP program is called BeyondTV Link. There is a free SDK out there for designing BTV plugins and it has been stated that it's more then possible to build a streaming app for BTV. It has only been done on PocketPC though. No other sources.

Snapstream does not support XBMC and I've started a thread on it. They don't have anything. They thought XBMC did because it mentioned that on the WIKI. If noone objects, I would like to remove that from the wiki. I spent 30 hours troubleshooting the problem to find out that it's not possible. Some of my steps involved buying new NICs, reinstalling software, buying a new router...... I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

I will bump this thread a couple more times before I remove BTV uPnP support from the wiki.

We do support upnp, but since beyond tv doesn't seem to have that built in directly we probably shouldn't mention that specifically.

But that said... It would be nice to see if we could make it work. Could you post a debug log on that windows machine. Start with upnp client disabled, turn it on from settings, wait a few seconds shutdown xbmc and grab the log for me.

Bump, anyone have luck with this?

Just a tip, to play BTV HD files, add .TS files to the advanced settings under video

How about you do what the developer requests rather than just bumping the thread?
