blinkeb.

What's your suggestion for installing these updates?

1. Just install over the current install?
2. completely (including profile) uninstall old and reinstall?

Finally, I've been reading a lot of tweak comments and I'm personally getting a bit lost. Is the install package you linked to complete enough that if you had a brand new Revo you could just install and go or are there still tweaks needed to drivers or other components?

Sorry, hope this isn't too basic but for me the last couple installs took me a bit backwards.

Thanks.

You can install the new build on top of the old one, it shouldn't have any problems

Thanks. Hey Blinkeb. Just noticed you were in Lyon. My parents had some friends there just drawing a blank on their names. Beautiful place. Thanks for helping on this project....

How about when reverting to an older build? Is it possible to install it over a newer one? I found that 27183 wouldn't play from rar-archives so I went back to 27111+patch. Did a complete reinstall though.

I'm still having no luck.

Here's my setup
Acer Revo R1600
Atom 1.6GHz
Nvidia ION
Windows 7 32bit
Nvidia ION 196.21 driver
24" LCD 1920x1200 resolution - VGA
XBMC + dsplayer 27275
Movies are all .mkv either 720p or 1080p with either DTS or AC3 (DD)
Movies are all smb shared

I had MPC-HC on the Revo at one point but it's been uninstalled.
I install XBMC + dsplayer. Haven't messed around with xml files to make dsplayer default yet - I just right click the movie and play with dsplayer that way. I am playing from the library/fanart mode.

When I do, the fanart screen does not disappear, instead I get a || pause symbol in the lower right of the screen and no movie shows. Can't stop it with X, no controls work at all. I can escape back to XBMC main screen but the || pause symbol in the lower right never goes away.

Is there something simple I'm not doing? Do I need to have any other codecs installed? Is it just because the Win7 support or SMB support is being worked on and not there yet? I've tried multiple versions including the one from the first page and get exactly the same thing.

EDIT: Just copied a small movie locally to the Revo. Added it in XBMC to the library and it does exactly the same thing as when SMB shared. It won't play and || pause is in the lower right hand corner. Hitting the space bar hides the fanart screen for 1 second and then it (fanart screen) comes back and the movie won't play. If I click the pause button, fanart does disappear and I can see the controls for the player at the top of the screen, but all but the settings icons don't do anything.

I really dont understand why everyone keep saying they uninstalled and reinstalled xbmc. There is no point of uninstalling xbmc. Just install on top of the other installation its basically the same thing

andrews, what is your audio situation? Are you connecting directly to an LCD/Plasma TV via HDMI and using the built-in speakers, or are you connecting to an A/V receiver? If the former, you should try setting your XBMC sound settings (under System / Settings / System / Audio Hardware) as follows:
Audio Output: Analog
- Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver: <unchecked>
- DTS Capable receiver: <unchecked>
Audio output device: NVIDIA High Definition Audio
Downmix multichannel audio to stereo: <checked>

The last time I tried DSPlayer, I found that that first setting needed to be set to Analog (which I believe is a bug with the DSPlayer integration), otherwise I had problems with files not playing at all, and even locking up XBMC altogether.

The build uploaded earlier was buggy (the pause symbol in the lower right of the screen). There was an exception not thrown in debug mode and I haven't tested the release. My bad! I'm compiling a new build, and I will edit this post as soon as the new buils is online. I've deleted the buggy one.

I think it is just because some of us might have found that cleaning things out (like the profile) might be better than just installing over it. It doesn't sound like this is the case with XBMC but other software does need it.

For me I was concerned initially that I had not followed the directions and maybe messed with some settings that left the overall config in a bad shape so I thought it would be better to start from scratch. Hope that helps.

I just tried a short clipt from eMule that was an .mkv and it did not play and exhibited the same issue you stated. I had to shut down xmbc and restart it before I could get any video to play again.

Please read before posting Wink There was a bug in the previous build. It's fixed now (see above)

I was just going to say something. I jumped on it quickly and have some time to play and I found weird things happening. I'll wait for a post with the new one and install it.

Sorry. Didn't refresh the page...

First off, thank you for all the work you guys are putting into this!

I know this has been posted a couple of pages back, just thought maybe two logs would help hone in on the problem.

Using XBMCSetup-Rev27275-dx.exe or XBMCSetup-Rev27183-dx.exe, some movies show up only in the top half of the screen, but twice.

The error occurs every time I play this movie.

Setup:

WIndows x64 Pro
ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO (AMD 785G chipset, ATI 4200 HD)
Athlon x4 605e
4 GB G.Skill RAM
Internal ATI 4200 HD
Onboard Sound

I too greatly appreciate all the fantastic work. With that being said, I installled this version and tried to play the .mkv. No change from previous problem (ie the pause menu appears in the lower right hand corner). In addition when you fast forward only the counter changes not the screen and even if you increase it beyond x2 to x4 or x8 there is not increase in the speed of the counter.
