Installed rev29028, I have haali installed. Tried playing an MKV via DSPlayer but makes XBMC to hang (needed to do a CTRL+ALT+DEL) to exit XBMC. Changed dsfilter to use MPC video codec, still same symptom.
Runnning Win7 Ultimate, x86. rev28917 is working fine although no subs Sad

Just a thought - check if it's got subs and what sort....

Thank you.

Get the same error as you - but I cant figure out if its the subs or in my case multiple audio tracks.

Seb\Tiben,

When I try to play this mkv http://pastebin.com/EcbZNufm, or this one http://pastebin.com/LFX7KN7K, dsplayer playing just hangs -

debug - http://pastebin.com/3LJtQVVz -

I notice the error - 10:32:27 T:3292 M:1110581248 ERROR: CThread:ConfusedtaticThread : Access violation at 0x7711fc47: Writing location 0x00000014 is the same as macmel - dont know if its the ASS subs or multiple audio tracks - as file number two (http://pastebin.com/LFX7KN7K) has no ASS subs, but several audio tracks.

Any thoughts?

ERROR: CThread:ConfusedtaticThread : Access violation at 0x7711fc47: Writing location 0x00000014

I was wondering what it means, actually tried googling the error message before posting here (been lurking on this thread for a while already). As far as I know, the MKV I am playing has only one audio but with with ASS subs which is the reverse of the file that you were playing.

I am trying to get some more MKV's to try and see, haven't tried on other formats though.

That is a really issue, thanks. It seems related to the subtitles, I'll look an eye today. Have you the same problem with a mkv with multiple audio stream but NO subtitles? For the error message, don't bother to look for any signification, it's basically means "Hey you've used a pointer which has been freed, you idiot!". Still need to find where!

LyndonW Wrote:blinkseb: Sorry, I thought that installing this version of XBMC should automatically start with DSPlayer in working condition (without needing to edit the filters). The built in filters pointed to haali (<rule filetypes="mkv"><source filter="haali" />) which confuses me as on the first post it says:

Is it just something wrong with my setup that is making mkv's not play ootb or is that actually how it's supposed to be?

On a side note, the build released today (29028) is working very good except for the default subtitle size being too large, and the fact that it took me a few minutes to figure out why it wouldnt run mkv's for me Smile

Oh, another note, using a secondary audio device to output the audio is also still not working. It was mentioned on an earlier post in this thread:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=61355&highlight=audio%20output&page=232
Any way I can help with this let me know.

We use the same property for subtitle height that dvdplayer. So, three solutions
  • We let default height like that, and dsplayer user will need to change the height on fisrt launch. Problem, it also change dvdplayer subtitles size.
  • We appy a basic math rule, like "24 -> 12pt". Will works with dvdplayer & dsplayer, but it's confusing as hell, because the gui will show height in some fancy imaginary unit, not in pt.
  • We create a subtitle page in the DSPlayer GUI entry. It would be rather confusing to have two subtitles menu.

As you see, I still need to think about it Wink

For the second audio output, I only have one sound card, so it's hard to test, but it's on my todo list since a while Wink

hsinchu308 Wrote:Just tried Rev 29028. I have a problem activating subtitle in DSPlayer: For mkvs with English audio and English subtitle only, could not see subtitle no matter what (toggle or cycle subtitle with keyboard or onscreen menu), but if I have other subtitle language in the mkv, like Chinese, then cycling subtitle using the keyboard will work. DVDPlayer does not have this problem. In the Haali Media Splitter properties I've set "Match subtitle track name to audio" to No, but the problem is still there. What am I doing wrong?

Clean XBMC install, including removing all user data prior.
Setup: Windows XP 32bit SP3, DXVA using ffdshow, Nvidia 8400GS w/ 196.21 driver.

I don't really understand what it's your problem, but can you post a debug log please?

steelman1991 Wrote:Having a second look at this, you might want to cut LyndonW and others some slack on this issue. What has been asked is a perfectly reasonable question, given that the current build ships with Haali as the source filter in the default mkv rule. This has the obvious effect of not allowing out of the box use unless the user has Haali installed. Perhaps a quick change to the build, or a footnote to advise the position might be in order and might just help those with the question "It doesn't work, please help me". That's what happens when you make sweeping statements, something always comes back to bite you on the a..e Laugh

Agreed can't get subtitles to work with Haali either, try changing your source to "MKVSource" along with "MKVSplitter" and they should work OK.

Subtitles aren't working with haali? That's weird, need to look at it (my god, I'll almost be able to publish a book with such a todo list!).

For the "Haali" things, it's just a mistake on my side, forget to take back to mkvsource. But this shouldn't be a cause of talking since you guys should now what you're doing. Don't forget that in final release, no codec will be delivered with dsplayer!

Anyway, a non present filter on the system should popup a message, and I guess this hasn't be the case, so, another things on my todo!

oldpainless Wrote:My bad - must have been one too many beers - no issue with dvdplayer Oo

Did some more testing. Fake full screen used. As you know, auto refresh is still not reading the fps of the file, and is forcing 50hz. But, something else I have noticed, is that the further away from 50hz the display is set increases the a/v sync and juddery playback issue.

So, if I set my display at 50hz, play a 24hz file - its in sync and no judder (apart from the normal pulldown). But, if I set my display at 23.97, the a/v is way out of sync and the picture judders.

However, if I use auto refresh, as I said above, it sets the display at 50hz, but the frames per second are all over the place - anywhere from 22fps upto 26fps when playing a 23.97 file.

So, looks like issues/conflicts with reading fps, that is somehow made worse when using auto refresh?

Does this make sense - do you understand what I mean?

Hope it helps. Let me know if you need another debug (although I did post one re this issue).

K

Understand, yes, make sense, not sure :p As you say, it must be releated to the fps reading, but it's really really weird! New thing on my todo!

That worked!!! I changed mkv source filter from haali to mkvsource and now I can see my English subtitles. Thanks! I do have the Haali Media Splitter installed (which works fine with MPC-HC and MP11), so I did NOT get an error message in xbmc.log about missing filters.

To recap: my problem was that if I have a mkv file with only one subtitle (normally English) then I cannot see the subtitle at all, either by toggling subtitle on/off, or try to cycle them using keyboard. But, if the mkv contains two subtitles, like English and Chinese, for instance, then I don't see any subtitle at first, but by pressing "L" (cycle subtitle), the Chinese subtitle shows up; pressing "L" again will make the English subtitle show up.

Seb,

I ran both of those mkv's through MKVmerge and deleted the subs, and now they both play fine - so not a multiple audio track issue, it's the subs.

So, now you have the debug log, the specs of the two different mkv's that caused the error/crash, and the fact that once the subs were removed, they both played fine - should help to narrow your search for the problem?

I've just had the same problem, and fixed it. It was because of subtitles style. I hope it will fix your issue Smile

Blinkseb ill take care of the video renderers, you already have enough job with the subtitles and audio stream. If you could just add a function which block the subpicthread from being created when your not rendering any subtitles that would at least not spam the debug output Tongue

Tiben,

If there is anything else I can do testing/information etc, let me know.
