Any way of "locking in" a season or episode? - Pr.Sinister - 2011-01-28

Not a huge deal because i figured out a workaround but i will post the conundrum here so people are aware and maybe a new feature gets added Smile

I have the show Jersey Shore (Yes, i do watch it and i love it!) set to download SD TV or HD TV and then replace it with HD TV. So if the SD TV version comes out, i get it and if the HD TV comes out, it will get that one.

Once the DVDRip is available, i replace SD TV and even HD TV with the DVDRip because the DVDRip is uncensored. This is exactly what i did with Season 2. Problem is, Season 2 has Episode 1 available online in HD so Sick Beard downloads the HD show with annoying pop-ups and censored language and replaces my perfectly good DVDRip...

Is there a config option that will permit me to replace SD TV with HD TV but leave SD DVD alone? If i say download SD TV and HD TV and replace by SD DVD and HD TV, will it leave the SD DVD alone?

Right now, what i have done is marked the SD DVD Episode at HD TV so it won't replace it anymore but i'd like to know if there is a better way...

I have all my shows showing up on sickbeard however some of the episodes are not shown up as downloaded because they are in .rar format. They are skipped. Is there a way for sickbeard to scan the folders and unrar and then rename the episodes?

I get this error message when I try to access coming episodes. Read something about updating to fix the problem, but how do I update manually? I usually use the update button when it pops up.

Sickbeard has worked pretty well for me in general in terms of renaming. But when I have a situation where for example I have an episode labelled as "502", it does not recognize that this is season 5 episode 02.

Is there a way to change this to s05e02, without doing it manually ?

Thanks.

yes... but be warned it will rename every ep for the show using your renaming options in the config.

go to the show (click on the name of the show on the home screen) then in the submenu click on 'Rename Episodes'.

there will be a new windows build released tonight that should take care of this.

sickbeard does not support .rar at this time. haircore can look into files to view contents.. but i don't think it can rename files.. so this is probably something that would be only implemented if someone wrote the code and submitted. does xbmc even support having episodes rar'ed?

for your specific problem no there is not a easy true solution. you could run 2 sickbeards to do it..

why not just use the Custom quality settings for the show. have it d/l SD/HD and replace with SD DVD.

click on the show from the home screen, edit show. select Custom for quality.
top box select SD TV & HD TV & SD DVD, bottom box pick SD DVD.

xbmc does support .rar files. do you know of a program that can unrar a file directory all at once?

- MindTooth - 2011-01-29

Just configured this. I'm totally amazed!!! This is what the MPAA should be about Wink

Because like that, if the show is released in SD 1st, it won't replace it with the HD afterwards...

The things is that, to me, SD DVD is a better quality than HD TV for some shows... Mainly the fact that the audio is uncensored...

During the season, i want it to download SD TV and replace with HD TV if it ever comes out... But once the DVD is out 6 months later, i replace the HDTV episodes with the DVD ones if the show won't be released on BluRay.

If you are on windows, it's pretty easy with a batch file/command script...

If your files are named something like filename.part01.rar, filename.part02.rar, etc..

You can create a .bat/.cmd file with the following code :

Code:
@Echo off
for /R C:\TVShows %%l in (*.part01.rar) do (
cd %%~dpl
unrar e -o- "%%~nxl"
cd C:\TVShows
)

If your files are named something like filename.rar, filename.r00, filename.r01 etc..

You can create a .bat/.cmd file with the following code :

Code:
@Echo off
for /R C:\TVShows %%l in (*.rar) do (
cd %%~dpl
unrar e -o- "%%~nxl"
cd C:\TVShows
)

Run the file from the command prompt in the root of the drive with the folder

If the folder has spaces in the name, put it between double quotes ie "C:\TV Shows"

It's even easier to do from the Windows GUI if you have WinRAR installed...

PM Me if you need help...

Well in this case with Jersey Shore you don't have to worry about HD. The current and previous season were filmed in SD only.
