PPA with deb's? - falc0n24 - 2010-02-03

Hi erhnam.
Thanks for yours development of XBMC for Asrock ION platform. Smile

It seems to me that if XbmcFreak liveCD is based on Ubuntu then all modifications designed specifically for ION should be distributed as DEB files. It would be a great idea to start a PPA with DEBs containing all additions for ION and SVN version of XBMC. What do you think? Smile That would greatly simplify the install and upgrade process.

Doesn't the standard Live CD include an option for installing on boxes with different processors? It's been awhile since I installed xbmc but I seem to remember options for ION, AMD, and Intel.

phantomd Wrote:Hi

I use Version 10. Its really strange, here something that i have tested right now :

If i boot from CD the Live system and change after the settings like this audio is working fine :

Audio output : Digital
Dolby Digital (AC3) cabable receiver = enabled
DTS Cabable Receiver = enabled
Audio output device = hdmi
Passthrough output device = hdmi
Downmix multichannel audio to stereo = enabled

If i boot the installed version from Harddisk (Version 10) and have the similar settings there is no sound its really strange.

Check if there's a .asoundrc file in the root of the xbmclive user

Can I uninstall the transmission-deamon?

What more extra software is installed by default?

Thanks for all!

sudo apt-get remove transmission-deamon

Hope Somebody can help me with this issue

I dont see any errors. Are you sure the cables are connected properly? Is the ~/.asoundrc file in place? Try to rename it instead and see if you still encounter issues.

Can somebody provide a pastebin of a clean smb.conf install. having a hell of a time getting the smb share to work.

I am also still having issues with PID file error at load.

erhnam Wrote:No, I'm not considering this. It would require a lot of effort to build.

For a custom installation I suggest to use apt-get and specify you want or not. Mine version targets the less average users who wants out-the-box experience.

I agree it prolly require more work I'm not sure if it actually offers anymore out of box experience since most ION 330 HT stuff is not entirely correct.

for anyone else hows interested in how to do the very latest for your ION HT's pls referr to my topic where the very latest on chipset monitoring and accurate cpu temps can be found.

I'm sure eventually they will mysteriously end up on the ION optimized xbmcfreak releases.

enjoy...

yea and then you never learn... laziness sets in and voila n00b forever...

Mind that's not a comment directed at you personally... Generally that's what happens IME

Which is gr8 the more n00bs the better and especially particular lazier ones, without them I wouldn't make a living.

Though were it me doing these CD's which I hope wont be long now, I will make it a proper install CD/USB ready complying with team XBMC, without all the extras being forced fed. Sod the extra work at the expense of a little extra work suffers quality and I wont put my name to poor quality anything these days...

Good efforts though by xbmcfreak were it not for peeps like him and moi and my fellow topic companions along with countless others who above all deserve way more credit and donations (hint team xbmc) none of us would be enjoying this fine software.

smb.conf
Code:
[global]
    preferred master = no
    local master = no
    domain master = no
    client lanman auth = yes
    lanman auth = yes
    wins server = YO.U.R.IP
name resolve order = bcast wins host
    workgroup = YOURWORKGROUP

That is a working proper one there are extra tweaks you can apply to it to improve traffic security amongst a few...

Find more info on google or here

hi erhnam - mysmy - 2010-02-04

hi erhnam.
How can I switch display between my LCD monitor and Plasma TV in XBMC live for Ion V10.
I want to use lcd monitor in windows XP and Plasma TV in XBMC Live.
When XBMC live is running, LCD monitor works by default. I try Setting -> System Setting -> Video Output -> Display, but there is only resolution changing options. I can't switch display between LCD monitor and Plasma TV.
I have installed xbmcfreak911live v10 in a 4G USB stick. My motherboard is zotac ionitx, it has VGA, HDMI and DVI interfaces. I only use VGA connected with 22" LCD monitor and HDMI connected with 50" Plasma TV.
