Demonoid

If my Internet wasn't down right now I'd help seed. No way to do that from my iPhone.

@erhnam

I have now checked on LIVECD there is a .asoundrc and i checked also on the installed version there is also a .asoundrc

I have copy the .asoundrc from livesystem into the installed system, result = still no sound

about the cables, trust me they are correctly connected, i boot from livecd made the settings in audio i have sound, i made a reboot without touchning any cables and have no more sound in the installed version.

This is the version of asoundrc that is installed on the harddisk by installer : http://pastebin.com/f60b5854d
And this is the version of asoundrc that i have copy from the livesystem : http://pastebin.com/f19cba3b1

Did you have some other ideas what can be the issue ?

Thank you very much for your good help

phantomd, I posted about this previously, but I was missing sound in my menus (not sure if this also affected playing videos), and changed the setting (towards the top of .asoundrc) from:

pcm "both"

to:

pcm "hdmi"

- phantomd - 2010-02-04

Hi Guys

I have already tested both. I have changed in .asoundrc from both to hdmi reboot = no sound if i play a videofile

I have add in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf this line :

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-codec-nvhdmi

so the alsa-base.conf looks like this : http://pastebin.com/f7283216a

reboot = No sound

And here a copy from my dmesg file : http://pastebin.com/f47f12f05

And this is what aplay -l show on my system :

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC1200 Analog [ALC1200 Analog]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: ALC1200 Digital [ALC1200 Digital]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Can i post some other needed informations that help you to troubleshoot my problem ?

The Problem with my HDMI Sound is Solved

It was quite easy now in the end. What i have done :

open console and start alsamixer

After that i have enabled with M the device IEC958 1 then HDMI Sound worked.

For save the configuration i made :

sudo alsactl store

Here is a printscreen of my config now :

Thank you to spocky184 for his guide [LINUX] HOW-TO to install Ubuntu and XBMC on Zotac MAG Mini HD-ND01 Ion the easy way who bring me the solution with the alsamixer Smile

I have a final question. How can i start ssh server on this release at system start ?

Actually if i go to console and do sudo -s login with pw then service ssh start it works. now i want that ssh is starting directly be system boot, which file i have to edit ?

Thnx Smile

well, you also need to verify if hdmi output is unmuted using alsamixer. I'm not sure if it has something to do, but i'm also using alsa latest version 0.22.1. my .asoundrc is the one posted by erhnam to give three outputs at the same time. Ask if you need more help... getting sound working is a bit tricky unfortunately

Is there a way I could install this and still run Ubuntu normally? And just start XBMC (this tweaked version) like any other program?

Thanks for any info regarding this.. =)

reinstall problem - mross22 - 2010-02-05

Asrock Ion Pro
Using ernham's v10 LIVE version

In my Noob noodling attempts, I ended up crashing my system, and having to reinstall v10 fresh. Howwever, all is not as before - as the system boots into xbmc live, the first XBMC screen drops back to text field, scrolls some quick text, and then back to the XBMC main screen. From there on, it boots normally. Since the reinstall, I note the system is running a little more sluggish than before - menus and RSS feeds especially. Video playback is still fine.

Currently, I'm using about 27-33% CPU usage when the system is at rest, running the mediastream skin. This seems higher than I recall.

Can anyone comment on what their resting CPU is in Medistream? What is the best way to go about obtaining my crash log?

thank you -

Michael

Hi guys, im a total newb when it comes to linux.
I successfully installed v10 to my Revo 3610 hard drive.
Next step is to set up WIFI with WPA2, and i am COMPLETLY clueless. I have no ethernet cable attached to my Revo either since its in my bedroom.
I looked everywhere, couldnt find a guide. What do I do?

v11:

http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/en/xbmcfreak-livecd-9-11-v11/

This is a bugfix release!

Changed:
- fixed "module proxy_module is already loaded, skipping" warnings
- added netbios name smb.conf"
- fixed samba cups errors
- transmission user is set to xbmc live user during start-up
- transmission apache2 config adjusted
- fixed transmission lib permissions
- runonce check for existing user shares
- added script to set SetResponseFormat()' hourly
- added xorg.conf with Coposite Disabled setting
- Alaska updated (4th Feb 2010), Rialto theme added.

- DjStiky - 2010-02-05

Never mind, i got Wifi working, but my Revo R3610 drops the connection whenever i try to transfer a file via FTP or SFTP as soon as the transfer reaches around 3 to 4MB.
Why would it do that?

Im i newb and like to know what services are in this build and how do i disable them.

Right now im using ureadahead to speed up the boot time.
Maybe you can add ureadahead as default to the next release?

The only thing i use is SMB share over the network to stream my movies in mainly 1080p x264.
