Hi,

I have installed the V9.14 xbmc live version and with nvidia Gt240, but the sound not works, i tried all options, iec958, hdmi but no sound. I have connected direct my graphic card to my tv (hdmi connection).

What i have to do?

Do a search for .asoundrc this is an ALSA config file that controls sound and you will likely have to create it. I have this in my xbmc user's home directory with the following contents:

Code:
pcm.!default {
type plug
slave {
pcm "hdmi"
}
}

Others put it in different places but that has been working for me. Also make sure that you go through the ALSA configuration and have all of the digital outputs unmuted - they are often muted by default.

Can't for the life of me get these packages installed so I and a friend of mine will be looking forward to the next LiveCD you release. Pretty please use the newev SVN code with the add-on framework loaded. Big Grin

as far as I understand erhnam's packages, it should be enough if you follow the XBMCbuntu guide but instead of adding the XBMC PPAs use erhnam's repo.

erhnam, I'm interested in the tweaks you did in these packages, is there a list?

Well, I'm doing this on his "live" install. Despite putting the repo key etc. in my list and attempting to do an install it was a no-go. Package conflicts for one thing. Out of the box the live distro didn't have wget which was fun when I first started out lol. for now I'm just leaving it pretty much as-is off the disk with the updates from Ubuntu installed and video driver updated. He has stated that he's working on a new LiveCD and when that rolls out I'll move to that and get what I'm looking for. Honestly I just really need it to be that simple since if this works out I'll be setting a few people up with boxes like this and don't want weekly support calls from all over Big Grin

I know exactly what you mean: with live I always screwed up my system FUBAR when trying to do updates, so I finally went the manual route with Ubuntu minimal and setting up everything myself. this is okay when it's your only HTPC and you really know what you're doing (and of course can fix it by yourself in case you really screw something up) but I couldn't give this stuff to friends who also asked me about pre-installing it for them; when something won't work as it is supposed to I need to come and fix it... honestly I gave all of them links to the xtreamer shop Wink
most of them just want to plug in their USB hard drive and play some HD movies they "borrowed" themselves anyways, so who cares

Any news on when the new live cd will be released? Just borked my system based on v13 and need to reinstall, but would like to use ubuntu 10.04 as base.

TIA!!

+1 Smile
10.04 would boot faster.
Btw. I've installed v14 and noticed that XBMC menu sounds are about 1-1,5x lauder that those in movies. How to fix that? (R3610)

HDMI multi-channel working! - Drumaster12 - 2010-06-28

Just thought I'd let everyone know I installed a fresh copy of XBMCFreak's LiveCD v14 today. Uninstalled Nvidia drivers, then installed the new 256 version and, tada! properly mapped Dolby Digital 5.1 surround over HDMI!

By the way, thanks for the great XBMCFreak builds. Keep up the great work!

Got a URL for v14? I can't seem to locate one...
