Also, it looks like the XBMCFreak Live CD 10.08 was just posted moments ago:

From reading the release notes and there isn't many atm. It mentions HTS Tv headend being part of the install. Could someone explain a little more detail around how this works on this livecd as i'm interested in setting this up or will there be some more release notes.

Hmm, with the 10.08 LiveCD, seems to install ok - however when exiting XBMC, it doesn't seem to go to a command prompt, just results in a blank screen.

Also, SMB browsing to a share that requires a password doesn't seem to work (you never get a prompt, just shows the "working" dialog).

You can manually enter the smb path with credentials and it works.

Everything you'll find on this page is included in this release:

http://trac.xbmc.org/roadmap

So you'll get all the goodies from Ubuntu Lucid (fast booting, new kernel with TRIM for SSD, better Alsa, better drivers, grub2, new ati drivers, etc).

For XBMC:

- Addons
- All Playback (new ffmpeg) improvements
- All GUI framework inprovements
- Broadcom Crystal HD support and drivers
- New webserver
- HTS Tvheadend
- Library improvements
- New Scrapers and improvements

Etc..

You mention on your site some bugs with your NIC. I reviewed the bug report and it looks as though it has been resolved. Is that true? Can't wait to try this out.

After today's kernel upgrade (2.6.32-23-generic #37) the bug appears to
be fixed. No more weird MAC addresses after reboots! :-)

Mine version still contains 2.6.32-22. I'll create a new one with the later version.

Thanks for this. I have been starting to test it out (booting from a USB stick).

I ran into a very strange problem, I was in the middle of configuring things (added Wifi drivers, upgrading Alsa, etc) and after rebooting it seemed to completely revert to the defaults. It lost all files that I had added or modified. Any idea how this could have been triggered?

Thanks. The reason i ask is that previous versions have had things like transmission and sabnzbd installed and this version does not if i use the port numbers used in previous versions.

After installing the new version - indianolajohn - 2010-06-30

Error: out of disk
Grub rescue>

any advice?

Everything works perfectly except I don't have navi sounds.

Edit didn't realize the .asoundrc wasn't there. All good. Thanks for the ISO. I love it.

I downloaded the ISO and used Unetbootin to mount it to USB stick. However I can't install the XBMC, because installation complains about CD-ROM drive?! What could be wrong?

- Bobby Blixberg - 2010-06-30

Tested Live CD 10.08 from USB stick.
Apart from display errors in some setting dialogs I have something like white noise instead of sound in videos.

This software will be added in a later stage. First I want to find out how stable the vanilla xbmclive cd is..

Same problem here. Can't get pass CD install. Used the same USB stick with V14 iso and every worked. not sure what i'm doing wrong.
