anyone have a broadcom hd card in their aspire revo here?

- bmfrosty - 2010-07-04

Why? The ion is much better than the broadcom.

does this include librtmp support?

What improvements are you seeing? Did you install it over theast version? Can you post the steps?

I am using the latest rease by xbmcfreak and I like it. The only thing is the luckluster performance of Aeon65, presumable due to the fact that the skin is old and not optimized.

does the latest xbmcfreak release have the transmission daemon built in?

I just installed Aeon65 last night, works but is a little laggy in menus ect...

Nope, have to install it yourself. Same goes for Sabnzbd+ if you use it.

Showmix 2.5 is the only version that worked perfectly for me on previous builds of XBMCFreak. Unfortunately, an official release may be a while.

sudo apt-get install transmission-daemon
sudo apt-get install sabnzbdplus

good stuff to have.

Yes, for me it seems more useful when running windows rather than the live build. Interestingly if you enabled both crystal and vdap the xbmc reverts to crystal for x264 mkv. Killa etc then won't play as it is outside the crystal spec. Currently I have crystal disabled as it seems to give no noticeable benefit. It would be interesting to know why xbmc choses crystal for x264 (sure there must be a good reason)

uh...sorry for the noob question, but have some of the directories changed in v10? i can't find where to put my skins. either that, or they aren't compatible with the new version (trying to use alaska)...

extract the skin.alaska.revisited folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\addons (or equivalent). Close/restart XBMC, then select the skin from the Settings > Appearance menu.

Boy, this thread has become one-stop shopping for all questions, hasn't it? Big Grin

Add-on hardware decoding in a tiny form factor (much smaller than any video card) as far as I can tell. That, and because it was possible...

Actually what I meant was with both Crystal and VDPAU enabled as options XBMC defaults to Crystal for x264 MKV when (with an ION) VDPAU works better. My guess was that Crystal is a known constant whereas VDPAU would depend on the hardware. Be interesting to know if there is a file you can edit to tell XBMC which one to use when. But as you pointed out way off topic so I'll leave this....... Smile
