For some reason I can not get the plugin v1a play disc working. The script version works great. I can use the browse files on disc using the plugin version, but when I click on play nothing happens and no errors in log. Is the plugin version looking for a valid makemkvcon key?

I have downloaded and installed the plugin again and still no joy. I also checked persmissions. Just do not know why nothing happens when I select play.

<BUMP>

Update: With the plugin script the browse feature works on all three menu items. The Play does not work on any. I can browse the titles on the disk but can not play them. Checked permissions, been looking at the default pthon script but I see nothing out of the ordinary.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Although the script version works, it starts at title0 and only plays the trailer which on some disks is title0 while the real movie is title 1 or 20, etc..

At a guess I'd say that your XBMC version isn't compatible with the plugin. What version of XBMC are you using and what version of the plugin?

- djselbeck - 2010-07-03

I think you are on a the Last stable version. You need to use the version of the first post not the new modified one.

Yes, xbmc r26018, karmic. I tried 3 times here with the play key. I have the plugin in the .xbmc/plugins/program dir.

FYI, I installed Lucid 32 bit and the latest svn release of XBMC. I changed over to the addon instead of the plugin and it works. But, it was just a test on a USB flash drive and I do not plan to move to that platform for a very long time.

So, I decided to move from XBMC r26018 on Karmic to r28275 (Compiled from source) and I now have add'l info I can share from the xbmc.log. The browse works fine on the menu's, if I try PLAY, not one entry in xbmc.log except the up and down and OK keys from the remote. It must be something with the Python script, since it works with the browse and not the Play. There should be at least an entry in the log other than select/OK from the remote. I did download BluRay-plugin-v01a.zip again but no joy, same behavior. Checked and changed permissions on all files to +x and still nothing.

EDIT: Decided to look at the code, just didn't make sense that the browse fucntions worked and not one of the three play buttons. Well, it would have been easy if someone would have mentioned to put the program in the video folder and not the program folder under plugins.

Sorry for all these posts, but in playing around with this, it looks like it might not be that hard to incorporate a backup sd dvd and BD within the same menu/script. If you change the default makemkvcon to makemkv, it will call up the rip/streaming menu of makemkv when you select browse of the first entry . Would just need to add backup to the menu and a seperate settings entry for that feature. Just a thought.

How did you change this to an addon? What did you put in the addon.xml?

http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=556352&postcount=131

just download it. no need to make your xml file. It should be in the first post!

Oh, awesome thanks Smile

This is great, now I just wish XBMC would support playback of DTS-HD MA and TrueHD (without DS Player). If it only converted all Bluray video to 1080 h.264 slightly compressed i could easily get mkvs around 15 gigs with uncompressed, core, and stereo audio built in.

Ok, that addon didn't work for me though. I get script error. It doesn't seem to work like the one listed in this thread does? In the first post it says it would give you some play options.

You mean something like this:

* Unzip/Install the plugin in your plugin/video path to make it act as a video plugin

As it has been saying on the first post for quite a while now?

Laugh

Dont put that addon in your appdata folder. Put it in the addons folder under the xbmc install. i.e. Windows is C:/Programs Files/XBMC/Addons

Second I get an error when trying to use it which I believe is due to the fact that I have an unregistered beta of MakeMKV, so when you load an ISO, a message pops up to remind you that you are using an unregistered beta, and I believe that is where the script messes up. I load the iso in MakeMKV before loading XBMC to make it work.

I have 64x windows and there are a few bugs with makemkvcon64 it seems. (you need to force quit it in the task bar for one thing) .
