[AppleTV] Downgrade XBMC from 9.11 to 9.04 on Apple TV? - a12v13 - 2010-01-20

Is there anyway to install XBMC 9.04 back into the appletv. I tried using an older patchstick but still when I load the launcher it takes me back to 9.11. I want to keep the previous release, I am having too many problems with the menus on the appletv remote.

unfortunately not, there's only the way to manually install it. This subforum should have some info about it somewhere.

I guess it's still about the context menu/osd stuff. I'd really like to see this resolved. Will post in the other thread in a sec...

Me too I want to downgrade. I made a mistake by upgrading.

Now the Arabic RSS is not working. I cannot watch live TV streaming (.strm). XBMC crashes and I get this:

Error: XBMC/Boxee exited with status: 5

These two features were working before. When I go to the Settings/Appearance the RTL option for RSS was removed.

It upgrades from this URL:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xbmc/xbmc-9.11-x86.dmg

So I figured that the 9.04 version should be here:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xbmc/xbmc-9.04-x86.dmg

When I enter the 9.04 URL it forwards to the main file download. Please post a working download link for 9.04

Maybe this one?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/files/XBMC%20for%20Mac/Babylon%20-%209.04/XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg/download

Thanks for the link. I'm gonna make time and see if it works. I'll let you know.

It worked!

sudo hdiutil mount XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg
cp -r /Volumes/XBMC/XBMC.app /Users/frontrow/Applications/

I also downgraded Launcher.

Everything is now working like before. The result was half a day was wasted on this. I swear I'll never update anything!

Thanks Bobby Blixberg. You are my Hero Smile

Nokian -

Noob here. Having some UPNP issues with 9.11 and want to try 9.04 as well. Can you please provide some more verbose instructions on how to downgrade to 9.04?

I imagine there has to be a wget somewhere in there to actually download the files from sourceforge

and then how do you downgrade launcher?

Oh, and finally, running 3.0.1, do you know if downgrading will create an issue?

thanks

eXTR,

It's simple. Download the 9.04 from here:

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xbmc/XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg

then upload it to ATV using SFTP. Once you have it under frontrow folder then run this command in ssh:

sudo hdiutil mount XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg
cp -r /Volumes/XBMC/XBMC.app /Users/frontrow/Applications/

Where XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg is the name of the installation file. Make sure no typos.

You can do the same thing with Launcher. Get it from here:
http://atv-xbmc-launcher.googlecode.com/files/Launcher-3.2.1-debug.run

Upload and run the above command. Make sure to replace the installation file name.

As for downgrading ATV itself, well, that so complicated and I'm not into Mac, trust me. I never had a Mac device before this ATV and never wanted to have anything with Apple. If you figure out how then please let me know.

Good luck!

there is no reason to downgrade the Launcher. the changes in 3.2.2 are to accomodate for new Al Apple remote.
