TV Displays Blank Screen When Viewing Hi-Def Files But Audio Still Plays - allspark - 2010-01-29 I am a noob and don't have a lot of linux experience, so please be gentle. Initially I setup my box with no problems. I was able to play h.264 and it was working like a champ! I decided a week later that I wanted to swap cases. When I swapped out the case I had to go through some initial setup again in XBMC - I found that I needed to install my NVIDIA again and recreate some of my audio and video settings within XBMC. To upgrade: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade Reboot Install NVIDIA driver: sudo nvidia-installer --update Reboot I found that after my case swap that I am unable to play hi def content - h.264 mkvs. My video rendering method is VDPAU. When I play a mkv I can hear audio, but no video comes through - the screen is black. If I play standard def content, it plays fine. If I change me video rendering method to GLSL my mkv will play, but not in hi def. Here is some more info: Video Output - HDMI System Info - Video: OpenGL vendor: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL version: 3.2.0 NVIDIA 190.53 Playback Video Settings: Render method: VDPAU XBMC: XBMC Live 9.11 Ubuntu: Ubuntu 9.10 Zotac IONITX-B-E Intel Atom Nvidia ION Mini ITX MB MB Specs: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4683884&CatId=4618 xorg.conf: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0ASq2t6-va6q4ZGpibmQ4dF8zN2NxMzZmYmN2&hl=en Debug: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0ASq2t6-va6q4ZGpibmQ4dF8zOGQ3cXN4ZmNu&hl=en I've seen a few posts that have somewhat similar problems, but not the exact same. In most cases updating the NVIDIA drive fixed everything...But I've done this and I still can't play hi def content. I've searched the forums and google and I can't seem to find the exact scenario nor am I able to figure out what's wrong...Hope someone can help. Additional Info: I should also add that I had some sort of corruption when I first started my box up after the case swap. I ran a fschk - Not sure if that means anything to the problem. - allspark - 2010-01-30 Anyone? - bobo1on1 - 2010-01-30 Set the ram reserved for the gpu to 512 mb in the bios. - allspark - 2010-01-30 How do I change it? - allspark - 2010-01-31 Tries adding VideoRam 524288 to my xorg.conf, but that doesn't fix my problem...Is there something else I can try? - bobo1on1 - 2010-01-31 Turn your computer on, press delete or whatever key gets you in the bios menu, change the appropriate setting (manual helps here), save settings and exit. - allspark - 2010-01-31 You were bang on the money bobo1on1! My igpu frame buffer size was set to 64mb...Changed it to 512mb and it's working like a champ! Thanks for the help! |
