asmd Wrote:latest build as of yesterday but after some digging backwards into this thread, i believe that its not working cos im running XP.

it doesnt work on xp right?

please mention the actual build number. 'last build' and 'latest build' doesn't mean anything. and your question was already answered on the same page you asked on.

"Adjust display refresh rate to match video" option is still not working in the latest (27597) build. The video stutters a lot or just gives a black screen and crashes XBMC.

Here is a log with the option enabled : http://pastebin.com/m4906c3d2
and one with the option disabled : http://pastebin.com/m51a684f

Maybe the difference can tell you where to look...
Right now the only option for perfectly smooth playback is to manually switch the windows refresh rate to the video I want to play.

iblastoff,
For a noob the the forum you are quite the prick on every thread I see you in. Take it easy.

If you did some reading yourself you would realize that asmd's "latest build" information is irrelevant as far as his questions goes. No the DXVA option does not work on XP in way shape or form.

I'm still getting a completely green screen on playback here, let me know if a screenshot would be helpful, the OSD is fine etc, the video is just....green, with no motion or anything.

Platform is Windows Vista, intel CPU, ATi 2600 Graphics drivers up to date etc, let me know if more info is useful here.

Build is xbmc-r27597-trunk.exe from the nightly repository.

Content is some pretty boring scene h264/ac3/mkv stuff, although the behavior seems consistent on blu-ray rips, and various other hd content.

Debug log looks...well interesting, http://pastebin.org/89114

I think this is probably the interesting bit :

Quote:#
20:28:31 T:932 M:1168621568 ERROR: ffmpeg[3A4]: [h264] Failed to execute
#
20:28:31 T:932 M:1168621568 ERROR: ffmpeg[3A4]: [h264] hardware accelerator failed to decode picture
#
20:28:31 T:932 M:1168621568 WARNING: DXVA - decoder problem of status 3 with 6

Thanks for all your hard work so far, if it turns out to be unsolveable I'll just swap this 2600 for something working, it's old now anyway. Still, MPC etc accelerates just fine, DSPlayer even works, so hopefully it can be done. Happy coding!

I bought a Revo 3610, and promptly installed XBMC. I was wowed.
Then I installed Aeon Auriga + Aeon65 mod.. and my jaw dropped... Then I tried playing 1080p and stutter stutter....
Did a bit of research found out it works flawlessly in linux.. But I wasn't prepared for that step yet.. Did a bit more research, saw could use external player.. Did not like external player at all.
Did a bit more research found DSPlayer... Had a bunch of artifacts when first play, 1/2 time video wouldn't play, had to set up rules, no subtitles.
Then I saw this thread, and holy crap grabbing the nightly build and my 1080p now works flawlessly and instantly! Second I press play it starts.

After spending a whole weekend, I think I finally have it set up exactly how I want.
I just wish I could figure out a way to make the movies menu load faster when I have it set to Wall mode.. only issue I have left I am trying to figure out.. but it really isn't a big deal..

Anyways thank you again so much for your hard work! I think I may just have to donate some money.

I have the same REVO; Do you have links to the Aeon Auriga + Aeon65 mod you're talking about. Thanks.

Im a happy camper for now.
will be hanging around in the wings looking at how things shape up on the various version that support dxva.

Kudos to all involved in dev.

Hehe, that is the first time i've seen that extra error checking code log anything at all Smile. It can give me some hints atleast.

The problem is that one needs to completely reinit the decoder when resolution changes. For some reason this goes foobar at times. I'm not sure why.

Make sure you have the option in settings enabled that makes us use a emulated fullscreen windows instead of actual fullscreen. I've seen that cause problems.

Auriga
Aeon65

Makes XBMC even better!
Hope you enjoy as much as I do

- elupus - 2010-02-10

nekrosoft13:
Avi most likely don't use dxva2 decoding as they probably don't contain h264 or vc1 which are the only stuff supported at this moment.

If you get black screen with anything that isn't h264 or vc1 that shouldn't have anything todo with dxva2 support, since it shouldn't enable for those.

Thanks for the links; I'll try it.

P.S. I installed Aeon65 mod and I like it so much. Thanks again harmar.

I'm also getting complete green screen like Freddo. My log file appears to have the same items that Freddo pointed out in his. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

http://pastebin.org/89282

P.S. Thanks for all the hard work from everyone involved.
