my ATI (hd 4200- chipset AMD 785G) too isn't using DXVA,
no more green arifacts but a lot of CPU use.

elupus,
Is there any way to show a "DXVA" into the "o" menu at all during playback?

- onomatopellan - 2010-04-01

Observing Gpu Mhz you can know if DXVA is really enabled (Using Everest ot the CatalystCC). In my graphics card gpu clock is 800Mhz and DDR video ram is 400Mhz only when DXVA is activated.

It may be important to note that on some m2ts files, CPU usage hits the floor with my ATI card. However, the m2ts of my star trek bluray causes the spike in CPU usage.

this is my XBMC.LOG (hope it helps)

I think this is the point of interest:
Code:
#
19:04:53 T:3436 M:1138778112   DEBUG: DXVA - bitstream type 2
#
19:04:53 T:3436 M:1138778112   DEBUG: DXVA - failed to find a raw input bitstream
#
19:04:53 T:3436 M:1133203456    INFO: ffmpeg[D6C]: [h264] Cannot parallelize deblocking type 1, decoding such frames in sequential order

in older svn (DXVA) builds this video was playing with CPU at about 35%, now 100% and a lot of dropped frames.

I had the same problem with the latest build. I have an Nvidia 8500GT that works 'almost' perfectly using DXVA with SVN 28256. I tried SVN 28937 and XBMC switched over to software mode rendering. I was curious to see if 28937 resolved the partial green screen when watching Apple trailers. I just reverted to 28256 and all is back to normal.

- Andromeda_nevel - 2010-04-01

I also tried the Build r28937 on my system with onboard ATI HD3200 but DXVA doesn't work anymore. CPU is 80% when playing a movie but also in homescreen when XBMC is idle it uses up to 95% CPU. Closing XBMC with AltF4 or just the normal gui is not possible.

Will revert back to latest official night build since almost everything works (except for Apple trailers ofcourse).

Still, keep up the good work Big Grin

Yea it turns out that the bitstream type i disabled to get rid of that half screen issue on multislice files, was the only bitstream type supported on some hw.

- brycerocket - 2010-04-02

I wonder what boxee is using under the hood since I could have sworn the same files played at low CPU usage with my ATI 4550 which is now exhibiting no DXVA usage in XBMC.

- elupus - 2010-04-02

boxee is using a completely different implementation that doesn't have the bug with bitstreamtype=2, and no i don't have any clue as to why

- AzzX - 2010-04-03

Tried r28937 myself with an ATI 4350 HD. 1080p content was working fine though started having intermittent sound skipping. Hard to test though as the recent builds have major issues.

SlaveUnit Wrote:I get the break up too. Not a big deal but I dont think it was fixed.

i still have 28276 build in my blasted ATI build and there is no picture break up, it was fixed by this fix

http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8889

did they go back on it?

- SlaveUnit - 2010-04-05

I have no idea but I doubt it. I run Nvidia and get the break up on files when jumping forward or backwards. But its only until a keyframe comes up. Then its fine. This is with mkvs and mt2s files.

Also the ticket you are talking about is for .ts files not .m2ts.

- nekrosoft13 - 2010-04-05

I just installed 28988 and yap, not sure when, but they did reverse the fix.

.ts thumbnail creation is broken again, and with it broken the picture will break up when FF or RW.

its the basically the same thing

it affects .ts, m2ts, mkv
