I've had the Black-Screen-of-ATI for quite some time now. Since other people are reporting it's resolved-ish, I suppose tonight I'll start playing around again with the CCC settings. Maybe I inadvertently changed something that I shouldn't have. Don't think so though...it's a fresh install of 7...strange.
Maybe something's gummed up in my XBMC config/install.

Nathan - see my post on the previous page - I did have 'black screen' problems but resolved as per the post. A purley default CCC installation should have the same effect.

Strange, all of the settings I can find have "use application preferences".
The ones that I'm not 100% sure about are:
- Use automatic deinterlacing (checked)
- Pulldown Detection (checked)
- Enforce Smooth Video (checked)

I'll fiddle with those, and XBMC's 'refresh' and 'sync to video'.

ATI. Harumph. :-)

Edit: Updating to Catalyst 10.6 gave me video...but there's about a half-second pause every once in a while which is very distracting. Not sure what that's about. The DSPlayer branch doesn't exhibit this, so I know it's not a processing-power-something-else-messing-with-it problem. I'll turn on debug logging and see what's up...if anything. Figured I'd play with the Dharma trunk during the ramp-up to the release.
Edit2: Nevermind the above, it seems to only happen with some videos...need to see if there's a commonality between them (h264+FLAC, vc1+FLAC, h264+TrueHD, vc1+TrueHD...who knows)

Have a look/play with the 'Audio output' options in System\System\Audio\Audio output Device - might solve the problem.

- fincheresque - 2010-07-21

They seem to be OK, I'm using WASAPI 7.1 analogue out put for everything... and it seems to be a very small portion of FLAC encoded VC1's. Superman Returns is choppy as all hell, but Batman Begins is fine. Maybe I'll re-rip SR with TrueHD instead of FLAC...

Ah well, that's most of my issues solved...

ATI's updating DXVA in CCC 10.7 coming on 27.07 (I think). They say it fixes issues of 3xxx cards' video acceleration too (they didnt mention AGP cards especially), adds DXVA for ATI cards to VLC player.

Thanks for this piece of news. Sounds promising

I am having a problem with XBMC when it wakes from sleep. It seems when I play movies after waking from sleep they seem to have a weird speedup every 5 seconds. It's like a jerkiness of the video. I have tried about 3 different versions of the builds and they all do this. This happens on two of my HTPC's. Rebooting the computer seems to solve the problem.

I have Nvidia 9600GT in one and the other a ATI 4550 both with IR receivers for Media Center remotes that work with my Harmony remotes.

I use Windows7 Media center that autostarts with reboot with the XBMC and Boxee add on that allows me to start XBMC, Boxee, or Hulu Desktop with my remote. I don't really use the keyboard.
I have Boxee and it doesn't do this when waking from sleep.

Is there a way to fix this. If not I was thinking is there a way to make the HTPC reboot automatically everytime it wakes from sleep?

How is this related to DXVA? Please create a separate thread.

I have a X4500MHD and DVXA seems to work fine for me, I haven't any ANY issues with it yet as far as I can recall.

I'd like to post some results but I don't know howto get the information about CPU usage and codecs etc. overlaying the Video. How do I do this?

Thanks.

Press 'O' during playback.

- cheetah05 - 2010-07-25

Hmm...scrap that...mine doesn't seem to be using DXVA2 even when I have the option enabled in settings?

Why is that?

I'm pretty damn sure my graphics card supports it. I'm running Windows 7 x64.

- steelman1991 - 2010-07-25

Why not check its specs and see whether its capable - then post a query why it isn't working.

- cheetah05 - 2010-07-25

What specs do you need for DXVA2?

I definitely know it works with DVXA. Its Directx 10 compatible. Here are the specs: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-4500MHD-GMA-X4500MHD.9883.0.html

needs UVD/UVD+/UVD2 support

p.s. catalyst 10.7 beta just popped to those interested
