[Bug/Missing Feature]
The nightly builds now support fanart for movie sets, but these doesn't show up in Alaska.

Edit: Ignore this. It seems it was a problem with the previous nightly build, it seems to work properly now.

It flags as broken when dependencies for the plugin are not met. If you are using pre-eden you will see that the logo-downloader plugin which is required in not in the repo.

A workaround until the version of the script is build into that the pre-eden is to download the one from dharma.

Any chance of seeing weather+ on this skin? I see that the svn version is pretty old by now.. Is this skin being going to be updated in future?

Pardu, forgive my ignorance, but does this mean we can actually get the Alaska skin to work with the current official/nightly version of XBMC? I'm having no end to frustration with Confluence (holding the menu button to bring up the contextual menu just sends me to the previous screen 9 out of 10 times.) I switched back to the only other working Skin (PM3 or something?) which I don't like very much. I used Alaska, which is fantastic, until I just upgraded XBMC over the weekend.

If we can, in fact, use Alaska on the current nightlies/official, would you mind posting specifically what we need to do? I tried downloading the Dharma version but can't get it to install.

Thank you so much!

Steve

Steve

Reading the first post should help you.

Nope, no help there. Installed the repository, Alaska is listed as broken. Downloaded the old version and uploaded it directly to ATV, broken. Can't install either of them. Is there a work-around, or just something I'm missing in that first post?

I'm having the same issue on the ATV. Marked as broken, can see no way to install.

Hitcher Wrote:Try manually installing it in the Addon folder.

Doesn't this work then?

- Sarlic - 2011-07-02

Assuming I did this right (I unzipped the package on my PC and uploaded the unzipped contents to the addons folder), no, still listed as broken with "dependencies not met."

When using nightly build and a new install from scratch you need to download extra addones required by Alaska which are not in the addon repositorie fro pre-eden.

Pre-eden addon repo:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/addons/eden-pre/

Dharma addon repo:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/addons/dharma/

As you may see you have much more addones on the dharma repo, when installing attempting to install Alaska it will complaint about missing addon dependencies on the xbmc.log file. Look for those addon zip files on the Dharma repo, download them manually using a web browser and installing using "install from zip" when you solve the dependencies restart xbmc and alaska won't be flagges as broken anymore.

That worked for me at least for Alaska and others since the pre-eden addon repo is incomplete.

Here is an example of this when trying to install Aeon Nox skin:
11:42:22 T:139820232685504 M:2827546624 DEBUG: Addon skin.aeon.nox requires script.logo-downloader version 2.2.0 which is not available

Meaning that since the "script.logo-downloader" addon is not on the pre-eden repo I had to manually download it from the dharma repo and then after the install I could continue.

I have pre-11 from June 26th and have NO idea how to install the newest Alaska revisited 3.0.2.
I installed the logo downloader but Alaska is still listed as Broken.

Now I tried the old 1.8.6 Alaska Revisited by just copying it to the addons folder and that works fine, so what exactly is going on here and what am I missing? Apparently the logo downloader is installed as the old Alaska Revisited has no problems.

I can't see anything in the log file. How should I be able to see errors, when trying to install, when I CAN'T install the skin as it is broken??

What are the differences between 1.8.6 and 3.0.2?

EDIT: Manually downloaded the trunk from google code and placed the folder in addons and now it seems to work...

Okay, I was able to piece together the instructions here. Here's how Alaska can be installed on the latest nightly:

1. Download the script.logo-downloader zip file from http://mirrors.xbmc.org/addons/dharma/.

2. Upload the zip file and install add-on.

3. Restart XBMC.

4. Dependencies *should* now be met and the skin will install.

(Note that I installed 2.7.6 manually and then used Hitcher's repository to update the skin to version 3.0.9)

This worked for me, and I'm now running Alaska Revisited on the latest nightly.

PS I gather from Pardu's post that if you're still not meeting the dependencies, you need to check out the xbmc.log file and see what additional add-ons missing. If it lists something other than the logo-downloader, download whatever it is missing from the link above, install, and then retry Alaska.

Many thanks to all for your help!

SM

Hitcher,

Looks like your design is being copied by the people of hedone design. link

Hi there!

In the last version compatible with xbmc 10.1 (2.7.6 I believe?) in the tv-shows folder for most views it always display the thumb you have selected, even if there are banner.jpg or poster.jpg images in the TV-show folder.

This means that, if you selected a poster like image and choose banner type view, it streches the poster instead of using banner.jpg. Or, the other way, if you selected banner view and the thumb is a poster, it streches too.

I've seen some skins that, if banner.jpg or poster.jpg are present, use those image for the banner and poster views (or other similars) so they don't strech the image.

Could that be implement in alaska revisited? Or has it already been implemented in the pre-eden builds??

Thanks

Enable - Use 'banner.jpg' for Banner View.
