OK. Will try this again.

xbmc.log (with debug logging on) http://pastebin.com/MMV7NQzZ

kextstat http://pastebin.com/md9YG2qR

dmesg http://pastebin.com/pPHMgSS0

Using ATV (RC1) and BCM700015.

Hope this helps...

dmesg shows that something opened chd "BroadcomCrystalHD opened". XBMC is the only thing that knows how to open it under atv1.

Seems I've been too diligent in reducing the logging when build under release mode Smile I can't see the initial open test. Play something and post xbmc.log.

Audio Plays fine. No video. UI starts freezing when the video is played. When mouse is moved across the UI you start getting a lot of mouse cursors on the screen. Never gets refreshed. Does this only with VC1 content in all the beta releases and in RC1. Used to do the same thing with mpeg2 content, but is no longer the case. H264 works perfectly.

Here you go...

xbmc.log http://pastebin.com/d9XEXBci

xbmc.log #2 http://pastebin.com/KaEkzxJp

crashlog http://pastebin.com/JruqexcP

After thinking about the first log, I decided to go back and turn on debugging to see if I could get more info.
I ended up having to reboot ATV when xbmc crashed for some reason.
The second log shows that crystalhd is now working!
Hope you can make something out of this.....

- Abbyjack - 2010-11-21

Well this is getting more and more puzzling.
After the previous post I decided to re-run xbmc and check the log.
This time crystalhd is not recognized.
Tried a reboot of ATV and get the same thing. (no crystalhd)
Looks like I'm back to beta 3.

Mac Mini C2D 1.83GHz 10.6.5
Dharma RC1

Seeing the same issue that I reported earlier when using the XBMC betas with a MakeMKV rip of Batman Begins. I hear audio, but see no video when using CrystalHD 70015 with the r174 driver. Plays fine when I don't use the CrystalHD card.

xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/rR129w0j
kextstat: http://pastebin.com/w3BBHWv7
dmesg: http://pastebin.com/Dupzcu0F
100MB clip: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7619655/Batman%20Begins%20Fragment.mkv

Saving Private Ryan used to play smoothly at 24fps with the Dharma betas (I just tried B2 again, but it worked fine with B4, too), but it's now jumpy with RC1. I can see both audio and video with RC1, but it drops a bunch of frames periodically and appears to be trying to play it at 20fps, rather than 24fps.

xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/RtuCaiXc
dmesg: http://pastebin.com/pXDZYdNB
100MB clip: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7619655/Saving%20Private%20Ryan%20Fragment.mkv

Both movies were ripped straight from the Blu Ray using MakeMKV 1.6.2, and play fine in VLC and in XBMC without using the CrystalHD card.

This 20fps issue is affecting normal H.264 HD TV shows, too. I get nice, smooth playback without the CrystalHD card at ~24fps, but as soon as I turned on CrystalHD support, it tries to play the video back at 20fps, and appears to throw away 4 frames every second.

EDIT: small.mkv is unplayable, tried the BAtman begins sample, and it was better, still some judder i beleive, aint got no audio hooked up but it wasnt "crystal" smooth

atv1, bcm70015

- brddd - 2010-11-24

I have noticed some weird behaviour when playing .mkv files.

Typically the playback is fine if it is started from the beginning and allowed to play to the end. There is a slight hiccup at first, and then the video catches up within 5-10 seconds. Recently with Dharma RC1 (although it may have happened with previous builds), there appears to be issues on scene changes as well, like where commericals were cut for TV shows. It does catch up like the start, but I notice some sound disruption on my receiver (lights flicker for DD 5.1) and then all is good later.

The bigger problem is when it is playing, if I pause it, or fast-forward, often it will never catch up and the video is very choppy or the sound is out of sync and it usually takes a long time to recover or never does.

I'm running Ubuntu Hardy on an Apple TV, with Dharma RC1, and the crystalhd driver from http://crystalhd-for-osx.googlecode.com/svn/trunk.

I'll try to get some logs demonstrating the issue.

I have a 70012 installed and the Crystal HD drivers installed and functioning properly. I purchased a 70015 to replace it, once i swap the hardware is there anything I need to do on the software end or will it pick it up just as before?

Thanks!!

Logs

I am working on providing you a sample.

Running r161 of the chd lib and driver on atv ubunutu
RC1 for xbmc.

Also as reported previously this works fine on Beta2. So i think its related to DTS and somehow only manifests itself on CHD, there was a similar issue that was fixed with track switching midway through a source.

I am in the process of uploading chd_stutter_after_b2.mkv to your ftp site, its slow its about 2.7G so will take some time to get it you.

Windows 7, 32-bit build 7600
Dharma RC1, Built on Nov 18 2010 (SVN:35325, compiler 1500)
Broadcom BCM70015

I hear audio but see no video when using CrystalHD BCM70015 with the 3.5.0 driver. The file plays fine without the CrystalHD card.

XBMC.log: http://pastebin.com/Q0uLb55s

The CrystalHD hardware is OK. Decoding through DirectShow filter is working fine.

How to get working the CrystalHD card?
