I'm not sure if this is a mysql db problem per se, but I'm having a problem where deleted TV shows keep re-appearing. I can go into XBMC and delete the series, but the next time I update the library, it will come back. It shows no episodes, but the main show persists. The show does not exist in the folder I have XBMC scanning.

Anyone have any ideas?

Has anyone come up with a solution for extrathumbs yet using SQL? I finally got fanart and thumbnails pulling in automatically using a symbolic link to the Thumbnails folder on my server install on my 2 remote installs. But extrathumbs (which are stored locally in each movie folder) won't pull. I assume this is due to the implementation of extrathumbs (the fact they are not part of the scraping process) and a limitation there's no way around on remote machines in Dharma?

I just got a Synology DS410j NAS server with mysql built in and I installed phpMyAdmin. I can acces phpmyadmin fine through my browser to adjust settings and so forth, but I canNOT get anything to connect to it through anything - xbmc, mysql client programs, heidisql, etc....Does anybody have any tips or know of a good walkthrough possibly that might aid me here? I've read through lots of the wiki but nothing seems to be helping. Firewall disabled, port 3306 forwarded. Not sure what the problem is!

Mine work fine. Does your skin support extra thumbsConfused

Definitely. I've tried a few different versions of Aeon which all support it. Avus, how do you store your extrathumbs? I store mine locally in an "extrathumbs" folder within each movie folder. Maybe you are storing yours differently but I didn't know there was another way. They load fine when using XBMC on the host machine where they actually are stored, but they do not load on any of the remote machines. What skin are you using, Avus?

Fanart and Thumbnail work fine.

i'd also like to get fanart/thumbnails working on my remote clients. is there any tutorial to get it working while using a mysql db?

what i already did: i scraped all the movies and series with ember media manager and let store the posters, fanarts and covers in the movie folders themselves.

but no luck. i only can see the fanart... and only in some movies.

and where are the thumbnails stored?

I've been scouring this thread, but don't see any answer to this one -- Has anyone else had freezes/slowness for around 10/15 seconds anytime you enter or exit the homescreen? When I first load xbmc, there's around 10/15 seconds where the UI is choppy and unusable, then it clears up and goes back to normal speed. Same delay when switching into the movie library, and then again, same delay anytime I return to the main homescreen (even going from the settings screens, for example, and back to the homescreen, I get this slowdown).

This only happens on my Linux machine running xbmc live. It does not happen on my Mac Mini. Both are running Dharma 3 and the same skin/config. Both are using MySQL and accessing a remote DB (neither are local) and both using a remote thumbnails folder.

I'm wondering if anyone else on a Linux box has seen this. Oh, and yes the box is hardwired on gigabit LAN (all boxes are).

BDPNA,

I have the same problem as you do except that I am running windows 7 32 bit and XBMC Dharma Beta 2. I am wired through a gigabit lan, am using the mysql db and am using a remote thumbnails folder (in the XBMC installed folder on my server) that is connected using symlinks. I always have a 10 to 15 second delay when first entering the home screen as well as going to my movies and TV Shows. I attributed the slowdown to the fact that my server is using 5400rpm hard drives. I am currently using the Transparancy skin.

Kurt,

Do you see the same slowdown on all your connected systems or just one of them? I have a server (Win7) and two Clients (Mac Mini and a Zotac Ion running Linux).

The Win7 server (where the DB and all the media is) has no speed issues and neither does the Mac Mini. Only the Zotac Ion running Linux exhibits this problem.

Do you only see this on one client system or on your server and all clients too?

BDPNA,

Unfortunately, I have only one client operating now. Will have three more in a month or so.
