I am using the ION optmizied XBMC Live disc which i have installed on my HDD.
For some skins i need to have a later version of XBMC.
How do i update it without breaking everything?

You will need to use one of the nightlies / svn-ppa.

It IS a PPA install. Just chnage the source to svn.
