Not sure if this was mentioned before, but when I start a video, most of the times, sound starts while video doesn't, and xbmc hangs.

LOG: http://pastebin.com/w872Kcgy

DSCONFIG: http://pastebin.com/isS02nZk

It used to do it in previous versions once in a while, but now it plays a file once in a while...

Have you tried either MPC or Cyberlink as the video codec in the MKv rules?...also I'd try with auto refresh rate change set to off - your screen supports limited refresh rates @ 1080p.

osho Wrote:tried to find info, but failed

when i play 720p video, upscaling method autoselected is bicubic Sad and it causes some vertical desynchronization

when i choose bilinear from OSD - all ok
but when i choos "set default for all movies" it just dont remember this opion and set to bicubic again.

See the 1st page of this thread for known bugs.....

With the MPC codec it seems to work ok (video started playing ok on 3-4 files i tried), so ffdshow might have been the problem.

Now I check the modes found I notice that there's none @ 24p so I guess something is being messed somewhere between the catalyst drivers, xbmc and the amplifier. I know that my tv supports 1080p/24, so I guess I should do some driver troubleshooting tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out. I wonder how I missed it Smile

plugins and stuff still broken when you wants news about that just look the xbmc homepage. I can guarantee that when the trunk will have plugins working back again you will see a new on the homepage

marc.aronson Wrote:is there anything special I need to do to get it to decode the subitltes that are embedded in "over the air" transmissions?
steelman1991 Wrote:Marc - unless I'm totally off track here, embedded subs are exactly that embedded directly into the video. Therefore nothing is required to be carried out to activiate those subtitles, they will be played as part of the video. If, however you are referring to seperate subtitle files included in an mkv container then the only thing you need to do is ensure that subtitles are enabled from the XBMC OSD accessible when playing a video.

I am horribly late in replying to this -- overload at work but back to my XBMC install now. I think I have not been clear and I probably should not be calling them subtitles. They are typically referred to as "Closed Captions", or "CC" for short. They are embedded in the transmission and are invisible until you turn on Closed Caption decoding. Based on what I have read they are transmitted on scan line 21 of the transmission. When using an analog connection between the video source and the TV, the TV's Closed Caption decoder will take care of this, but when connected via HDMI, the TV never sees line 21, so I need XBMC to take care of the decoding. The default XBMC player has this capability, but the default player doesn't support hardware acceleration, which is why I am using DSplayer.

So the correct question is this: How do I get DSplayer to decode & display the Closed Caption data. As a reminder, I am using the PowerDVD8 video and audio codec's, per oldpainless's trick...

Thanks again for all the great work you guys are doing and any help you can provide!

Marc

We all gave up on my issues 4 pages ago Wink

Is there a way to let xbmc with Win7 (r29443)use a Windows "Media Player Classic" internal player?

That is playing my mkv .h264 flawlessly

This?

Quote:<playercorefactory>
<players>
<player name="MPC-HC" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
<filename>C:\Program Files\MPC-HC\mplayerc.exe</filename>
<args>/fullscreen /close</args>
<hidexbmc>false</hidexbmc>
<hideconsole>false</hideconsole>
<hidecursor>false</hidecursor>
</player>
</players>
<rules action="prepend">
<rule filetypes="mkv" filename=".*720p.*" player="MPC-HC"/>
</rules>
</playercorefactory>

any luck on getting auto refresh working?? this is the last thing i need fixed before i can ditch mediaportal Wink

- steelman1991 - 2010-05-07

Its still buggy at best - though moving in the right direction - some users are reporting success (Oldpianless for example), others myself included are witnessing severe playback problems.

- WhiningKhan - 2010-05-07

People have reported here (at least partial) success with embedded subtitles inside MKV's. I suppose this means BD subtitles remuxed inside MKV container?

For me, when playing M2TS file off of a BD, enabling subtitles causes XBMC to crash in a matter of seconds, no subtitles are displayed before that. Is anybody having any luck with BD subtitles?

Yeah....as Steelman said - for some it's working. However, I'd bet my last pound, it's a dx issue in the main win build - Crystal has submitted a patch that has yet to be merged into the trunk...

When that does happen, we'll see if it's been fixed.
