DaGround Wrote:sure its the fan not the hd? i had this week 2 zboxes, one with ssd nearly completly silent, no matter what i did with it and one with 2.5hd 5400rmp, wich made a "fan like" noise..
i never hear the fan on my ssd build, except on startup for 2 secs and im running factory settings.

Good remark. As I do not have SSD here, I cannot test Sad (could be a cool Christmas gift !)

Anyway, did you change the fan settings ?

1080p flash content - parsimonias - 2011-01-16

How well does it play 1080p flash content? My planned setup is xbmc live and the plugin called pelisalacarta. Does the pciex1 problem persist?
I'm going to buy it because of its gigabit but, is its wifi so bad?
Does the heatsink use a standard socket? I mean, is it possible to change it for a bigger one (I know, removing the case)?

It plays 1080p well.

I don't know that it's wifi is bad, it's that wireless doesn't have the sustained throughput to handle 1080p.

I'm not the person you refer to but... I experienced a lot of fan noise when I first got the Zotac. My wife would not even let me put it behind the TV in the living room due to the nasty fan noise. However, after a BIOS upgrade which included fan control it is much better and my wife does not complainBig Grin

Great, because I'm going to use ethernet.

Wife test = PASSED! Laugh

That's all I needed to know. I'm going to buy one!

Noise and heat - SoCol - 2011-02-22

PV_XBMC Wrote:Thank you very much for info about Wake on Lan and Wake on USB.

And what about noise and heating? Is it real problem on Zotac Zbox HD-ID11?

Not a problem at all after updating bios - the unnecessary noise is completely gone, and the CPU is still cool enough.

Guys, ive just bought zbox, installed ubunu 10.10 and using terminal installed xbmc.

playback is not smooth and i cant get audio what-so-ever.

the zbox is connected to the tv by HDMI.

Ive googled it and to be honest, ive never used linux before and i aint got a clue what these "solutions" are asking me to do.

Did any of you have these issues and if so how did you fix them?

- Geeba - 2011-02-23

Use Openelec - everything on ZBOX works out of the box....

- ClayM - 2011-04-05

There's a new alsa script for those you having sound issues

The instructions here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=540482&postcount=32 still seem to apply.

Zbox HD-id11 nothing out -(Windows 7 64bit) - German - 2011-04-07

Wondering if all this time my HD-id11 was defective from the start.
I get no HDMI out-put.
Is there something special that has to be done?

There are not options in the out-dated bios..(Web site support for this is 2010)

What are the steps to enabling it? Do I have to start with DVI first to enable HDMI out somewhere? It doesn't seem to auto detect and spit video out to hdmi no matter what...

Getting crappy video performance running 1920x1080 through DVI.

VERY disappointed in the support on this model from Zbox.com - OUTDATED

Anyone has xbmc running on Lucid with audio working through HDMI? If so, can you post your sound settings and alsa version? (cat /proc/asound/version)

My HDMI video works flawlessly since day 1, but sound is another story...

- dskippy - 2011-04-28

I just wanted to say that your tip worked for me. I got my ZBOX-ID36BR3D-U working by installing the nvidia drivers from this post. I haven't tried the sound yet but I'm about to. I did, however, need to also add a line to /etc/X11/xorg.conf not list in your post. I needed to add this to the screen portion.

Option “ConnectedMonitor” “DFP-1″

I got this from this post:

Don't see anything booting up via only HDMI , even bios..
