XBMC on Meego - Is it possible? - hainamluke - 2010-05-27

Meego is just out today. It is an amazing platform.
I wonder whether we can make XBMC running on it?

Think your going to get the "Patch Welcome" answer Wink

Welcome to the forum by the way...

Lordmozilla has some guides (his blog) on getting XBMC working under Moblin (previous name/version of MeeGo), he might do one for MeeGo eventually so I'd keep an eye out.

Meego == Moblin? If so, then there's not an insignificant chance that someone out there is already working on the project. Probably not a dev, since they're all pretty busy, but one of the crazily active community members.

I'm actually working on writing a howto. It's not that hard, probably easier than on moblin.

Meego netbook is nearly moblin.

I'm looking forward to it! Meego looks promising, with xbmc it would be very nice...

nice :-)

Quote:Warning : my hal package does NOT work properly. It's simply compiled for a dependancy purposes. Look at the Arch Linux xbmc-svn package build in the AUR on how to remove it.

FYI: since r29991 HAL is not more needed (also not for dependancy purposes) if you have DeviceKit-disks/ udisks installed. Simply disable HAL with:
Code:
--disable-hal

That's great news! Shame I didn't know before Nerd

I changed the instructions a little to follow this. I'll retry the compilation when I get the time just to check this works.
