I have used pin87a image and
booted successfully
thank you for all

but I still have two problems below
- when played hdtv raw stream file (mpeg-2 transport stream)
It couldnt use crystalhd for decoding
only depends on cpu power and skipped frames
- aac audio couldnt decoded through hdmi
it sounds some noise

is there any ftp site can upload ts file for checking to xbmc team?

The standard thing is http://www.pastebin.com for xbmc.log. MediaInfo output for the file in question.

Can your HDTV/Receiver support AAC as a digital input format ? If not then turn it off (AAC compatible receiver).

can this kernel read/write on hfsplus partitions? I'm having trouble with one mounting as read only. Sad

Gonna mount it in osx and make sure journaling is disabled. any other ideas? its showing as rw in fstab.

EDIT: That fixed it! Had to disable journaling w/ OSX diskutil. Smile

Linux always mounts hfsplus journaling as read only by default.

You guys are so awesome! I never touched linux before a couple days ago, and you all have me watching 1080p on crystalbuntu.

If there's open donations, I want to make one! Smile

xbmc main page or the crystalhd page at the google project page. If you have to choose one, make it the xbmc one. thanks.

At the moment I am using the AppleTV with a 1TB USB Disk Drive formatted as HFS+. I would like to try CrystalBuntu.

Is there a way to install crystalbuntu on the internal drive? So I can use the USB port for the External HD?

When i install to the internal HD i want to make a backup of the OSX and restore partition. IS there a guide for this?

Can CrystalBuntu read HFS+ Disks? Or is there a way to achieve this? Or do I have to convert to EXT3?

you had better import disk image of this thread to your disk

there are two things to use local disk
1. modify com.apple.boot.plist kernel parameters to /dev/sda3
2. enlarge partition by parted

the way is explained this thread somewhere...

I installed disk image to SSD and
played media filles on mounted remote disk by nfs

good luck

How can i install the minimalised disk image by pin87a to my Apple TV's internal harddrive?

I have searched this thread, and found out that it is possible, but i couldn't find a how to anywhere.

I don't need OSX, i just want XBMC to boot when i start the Apple TV.

And running XBMC without OSX as backend is working much more snappier and smoothly i discovered.

to davilla

I found reason XBMC could not recognize crystalhd
driver was old for my bcm70015,
so I updated driver and It was success to recognize crystalhd

but, when playing file, there was only sound and no screen(black)

here is my XBMC.log and dmesg

I too am curious how to get this. I've got pin87a image working off a usb stick, but I'd like to have it boot up off the drive or instantly instead of doing the long script in the beginning if thats possible. (I power off my aTV whenever its not being used)

Thanks for this thread, I was able to get the flash install up and running with a fair amount of ease. Now to figure out how to update the install to Beta2

Pretty much everything you want to do here is somewhere in this thread. I can't go back right now to find it all at the moment, but you can "search this thread" above to find what you're looking for.

And yes, I had some trouble with my HFS+ external drive, but all you have to do is disable journaling through OSX in the terminal with "diskutil".

I had this working on a USB thumb drive, then decided to backup my internal drive and install to there. I made a complete disk image of the atv drive for backup using dd via ssh.

I also installed pin's image over the network via ssh. I found most of what i needed in this thread for that, but for the exact commands, I got some help here:

http://ultra.ap.krakow.pl/~bar/DOC/ssh_backup.html

Pretty much, just read this entire thread and then google for the rest, as I did. I'm a complete Linux noob, and I managed.
