Mine won't even boot after the upgrade to B4. I can't SSH in either...I guess I'll just have to wait until the next beta or RC to get this going again...

This is before the B2->B4 upgrade

http://pastebin.com/NgyT6NFj

This is after the upgrade.

http://pastebin.com/DxFBcUtx

note the "pcm.default" instead of "pcm.!default"

I also suspect the framedrop shenanigans is related to the audio, as the "aq" drops to about 5-10% and the a/v inreases to a +ve number upto 10, then once its finished framedropping, it all syncs up again.

this file exhibits excessive frame drops.

others also have it but once ever 2 minutes instead of 30seconds.

I am running r161 of the crytalhd-for-osx compiled on the atv. with 8M DMA buffers.

Hi everyone,

I'd like to try Linux+Crystal HD+XBMC on my AppleTV. I'm currently waiting for the openELEC team to release their first AppleTV dedicated beta.

Meanwhile, I'd really like to try the CrystalBuntu image.
I downloaded both .rar files (pin87's and Nazarko's) on my Mac and neither MacPar Deluxe, nor Stuffit expander were able to unzip them (both!)
I even try to unzip it in Ubuntu10.10 (through VMWare), it failed too...

I read some guy had this kind of problem, an quite frankly, I lost the post, and I've no time to go over the 137 pages...

any idea?

then,
what about an image with the latest versions of XBMC and CrystalHD Drivers? Did anybody post it somewhere?
that would be awsome

thanks

I just downloaded pin87's image and it extracted just fine with 7zip on windows 7.

Use unRarX

Then just follow these directions to update.

I use unRarX, it went fine, thanks a lot

I bookmarked the thread about updating

I'll try everything next week, as soon as I can hook my aTV up to my HDTV, back home.

thanks everyone

Davilla,

if I reboot after deleting the .asoundrc (and not replacing it), then it reforms with the following:

http://pastebin.com/PZnsUgT4

note there is no pcm.default section.

If I edit the above .asoundrc to:

pcm.!default {

type plug
slave {
pcm "plughw:0,3"
}
}

and reboot, then the following is the result:

http://pastebin.com/S2ge4dbV

note that pcm.!default has been modified to pcm.default and the State.Intel section has been appended again...

Hope this is helpful. The only recent change to my system has been installing b4 through apt

Jim

News from Sam on twitter, at least I haven't heard any timeline before:

SamNazarko
A new distro will be ready around Christmas with a UI installer to help with internal and external GPT partitioning. #crystalhd

Yup

- xeonicxpression - 2010-11-03

Awsome, I'm looking forward to getting xbmc con the internal drive.

- xeonicxpression - 2010-11-03

Well I reflashed my thumb drive and reinstalled Beta 4 and all is well. I actually had to do it twice. If I didn't do "sudo apt-get remove xbmc-data" first then xbmc would crash and I couldn't even ssh in. I'm glad to say that everything is running great now!

Hi guys,

I'm still running Pin's image, have not done any updates to it as I have an early CrystalHD card, am quite happy with the performance and probably want to wait till Dharma is released.

However since I recently bought a new 60 inch plasma (LG60PK250) which is 24fps compatible, I want to use 1080p/24 and am running in some trouble here.
My menu's and movies remain in 60Hz, and using 'sync display to refresh rate' is not working (output remains at 60 Hz).

I discovered that somehow I only have the following display modes available (from a xlog.txt I made):

Quote:(II) NVIDIA(0): --- Modes in ModePool for LG TV (DFP-0) ---
(II) NVIDIA(0): "nvidia-auto-select" : 1920 x 1080 @ 59.9 Hz (from: EDID)
(II) NVIDIA(0): "1920x1080" : 1920 x 1080 @ 59.9 Hz (from: EDID)
(II) NVIDIA(0): "1920x1080_60" : 1920 x 1080 @ 59.9 Hz (from: EDID)
(II) NVIDIA(0): "1920x1080_60_0" : 1920 x 1080 @ 59.9 Hz (from: EDID)
(II) NVIDIA(0): "1680x1050" : 1680 x 1050 @ 60.0 Hz (from: X Server)
...lower resolution removed from posting here...

Ok so I thought I, there is no 24fps display mode set, so I set what looks like a 'blunt force' override using the:
Quote:Option "ModeValidation" "NoHorizSyncCheck, NoVertRefreshCheck"
in xorg.conf as mentioned in post http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=549744&postcount=205.

I could now see multiple display resolutions available in the XBMC system setting. However using 'sync display to refresh rate' I now get a black screen using 24fps media.

So it looks like a driver vs display issue? As I don't need audio over HDMI, it is probably best to update the nvidia drivers? If any of you could point me to a nice 'how-to' guide to update the drivers I would be most grateful.

(PS as an absolute linux noob it's a lot to learn quickly...Nerd)

The acceptable input timings reported for the LG screen

- bolle - 2010-11-04

Ok, I added by using a modeline in xorg.conf for 23,97fps

Quote:# 1920x1080 @ 23.97 Hz (GTF) hsync: 26.25 kHz; pclk: 61.73 MHz
Modeline "1920x1080_24_9" 61.73 1920 1944 2136 2352 1080 1081 1084 1095 -HSync +Vsync

and
Quote:Modes "1920x1080_24_9"

in the 'Monitor' and 'Screen' section.

Result is still 60 Hz output. I'm lost....

How do I get that? OS X won't let me read the external drive I installed crystalbuntu on :confused2:
