Hi guy, just wanted to say that I've only been using XBMC for a month or so now but Refocus has been the skin of choice for the last 2 weeks. The design ethic is perfect:
  • logical layout of the menus
  • large, clear fonts and colour scheme
  • subtle use of fanart that does not reduce the clarity of the data

If you remain faithful to these points I don't think you can go wrong!

Thanks for all the hard work. Looking forward to this big new release!

thanks for the kind words jdbrookes

first off, thanks for putting time and work into such a great skin.. i never had any problem with it before, but with my last update of xbmc w/lastest version of refocus, everytime i bring up the keyboard..there are no letters..even deleted the whole xbmc directory and started fresh and still same problem. using 30837.. thanks again.

@ 3rdcoast: latest released version of reFocus is 0.8.9.6 and it work best with dharma (10.1). If you're using nightlies, there are high chances that somethings will be broken because they made changes to the skinning engine. 0.8.9.6 will not be updated for the use with eden, instead, the next version of reFocus, 0.9.1 will be.

@Jeroen What still needs to be finished for 0.9.1? The change log looks pretty big, but complete from what I can see, is a release imminent?

I think one of the problems with the 0.9.0 release was that it contained too many changes. Having smaller incremental updates might be a better approach imho. Is there any timeline on moving to something like github where development would be a lot easier as well as faster updates?

Thanks, the skin is still the best out there for XBMC!

The main things that still need to be done are related to the PVR. However I'm having no luck getting a proper pre-Eden based PVR build, so that's a problem at the moment. Apart from that it's basically finetuning at the moment. I would say a release is not far away though. If I can't get the PVR stuff reworked soon, I'll release 0.9.1 with the PVR left at the Dharma stage, and there would be no support for it for the moment.

Well, 0.9 was to be the starting point for that Smile Even after moving to a repo, I will still be doing official releases as I have been doing, as I like to set goals and work towards those, it helps me focus and plan better. But the dharma/eden compatibility issues we're the main problem really Smile

I've been having the same issues with availability of PVR Eden builds (I take it your a Windows user too and rely on Margos builds?). Personally, seeing as how experimental PVR (and likely quite low usage) still is at the moment I'd say release 0.9.1 without updated PVR support and leave it at the Dharma level which was usable enough.

The nice thing about github repo usage is that others can make small fixes and issue pull requests to bring the fixes back into the main repo if you think the change is worth having. This should reduce the amount of bug fixing you have to do directly which would give you more time to work on the bigger features. It should also stop people bugging you for releases Laugh as small fixes can be pushed out quickly rather than waiting for a big release.

He said PVR EDEN build. 10.1 is Dharma.

Yes I'm on Windows. I have a build environment set up so I should be able to do my own builds, but I've been having trouble getting proper builds out of it.

Thanks, I really hope I can get a pre-Eden PVR build somehow, but at least that build seems to be newer than the one I have been using so I was able to fix a couple of things but a proper rework of the PVR has to wait for now I guess.

Nevermind, I figure it out by myself and opened a new thread. Smile

Nice view Galefury Smile

I can't take the credit for it, I just used Scarfa's "Rapier" one and made some small adjustments.

The status page says all is done except for PVR icons; any chance we can have a release for those of us who don't use PVR?

Sorry to be impatient, I just dig this skin and am anxious to get my hands on it.
