Install onto a USB Drive - Kallaide - 2010-07-02

I'm trying to install the latest SVN build (31504) on my USB drive and it's working, however I still can't seem to get it to use the USB drive to store all the Data as well.

I'm going away on vacation so I'd like to make XBMC portable.

Kallaide, do you mind if I ask how you installed to USB?

I'm not having any luck finding instructions on doing so.

Thanks!

Calab: Just get the SVN Build from http://sshcs.com/xbmc/

From there it's easy as copying the files to your USB.

However what I'm having issues with is getting XBMC to save the User Data to the USB drive as well. It still keeps saving it all to my C: drive under users - appdata.

I found a wiki that said to use -p within a shortcut to set it as portable but that didn't seem to work.

I've also tried using the DX Installer (as opposed to just the DX Files Compressed,) but that gave no option for setting it as a portable copy...

This is prob in the wrong section not skin related the -p argument does make XBMC save teh data to the local profile inside XBMC
Instead of in the user folder this DOES work as I have it running both of my revos and media center PC
the shortcut should look like this D:\XBMC\XBMC.exe -p (with your own path)
however in windows 7 you will need to make sure
you are running it as admin as if you install it into the default dir you will not have the rights to save the data back to that folder.

Yea, sorry about the wrong area.

Thanks for the help. I didn't try the Admin part so that may be what the problem is..lol

That did it!

Thanks Ram2000! The Admin Rights was the issue...lol
