RE: [RELEASE] cdART Manager Script - vanceMM - 2013-08-29

Hey,

I've been using cdArt Manager on my MacBook for 3 Monts now, everything working great and the library is looking good with all the fan artSmile last week I set up my new HTPC with an Zotac Zbox and Windows 8. Installed XBMC with Aeon Nox 4.1.9. For Some Reason I can't build up a Database with cdArt Manager. here is a link to my debug log http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=51902

Good night giftie,

I have several artists that only appear in compilation albums or are artist names resulting of the gathering of 2 or more artists, e.g. 'The Jacksons and Mick Jagger' as one name, etc... I can see all these compilation artists listed on cdART Manager, however it doesn't give me an option to use custom local fanart.jpg and folder.jpg, and instead just tells me it couldn't found any material in fanart.tv. There is plenty of music material actually not present in fanart.tv, and I am wondering whether I am missing some setting in cdART Manager that could allow me to define custom local fanart when needed.

Thanks in advance,

CF

why don't you contribute your local fanart to fanart.tv ?
this way you help others and your self also.

Hi TRaSH,

Yes, I personally do contribute whenever I have material or I can design extrafanart up to the minimum quality standards of Fanart.tv, which are important to protect and observe. Sometimes the only images currently available, whilst still looking good, they do not meet the criteria of fanart.tv due to random pixelation or artefacts that appear after excessive compression of the main sources, and therefore not suitable to share with the world via fanart.tv. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Sometimes the custom fanart is just private and intended to be shared amongst family members, friends or business colleagues only.

There are also other case scenarios:
1) Cases, just as I described to 'giftie' on post #1832, in which the artist tagged by Picard is shown on both XBMC and cdART Manager as a composed name resulting of the gathering of 2 or more artists, like 'The Jacksons and Mick Jagger', for which there is no ArtistID since they have their own artistID for which they are credited individually (see here in MB). Thus there is no way to input fanart on fanart.tv for this case scenarios. However we could still find or produce beautiful custom fanart that shows the gathering of these artists when browsing the music library. The latter is what I have asked giftie about, and hopefully will get some guidance on the matter.
2) Cases in which one can't just upload the material to fanart.tv due to the non-commercial, non-official nature of it. I work in a production in which we have to film several plays, shows and also record live music concerts that do not become official releases to the market (or not yet) due to contractual terms, but we need to keep them labeled and presented within our media centre just as they were official releases, with all their metadata and fanart we create in our offices to best showcase them internally, specially during team meetings or meetings with producers that need to see a very well presented material if they are thinking on investing on a further production. The members of the team (actors, producers, set designers, directors, choreographer, lighting assistants, sound engineers, etc.) can watch and review this material, and work on it, in our main media centre or they can ask us for the media pack of a specific film or music recording, so they can add it to their own media centres at home. Therefore the use of local files for extrafanart is as important to us as the use of online files. A simple and least time-consuming way to achieve both purposes is desirable as well, so they can work in tandem, for both custom user generated material and publicly available online.

All best,

CF

RE: [RELEASE] cdART Manager Script - capfuturo - 2013-09-09

Good night giftie,

1) Further to my previous inquiry on post #1832, I'd also like to point out my installation of cdART Manager doesn't allow me to manually change album's MBID. I basically do as follows:
Advanced –> Modify Add-on Database –> Edit Album –> Change MBID –> Select Album –> Enter MBID: nothing opens (no reaction from cdART Manager) so I can input the MBID manually.

Full debug log here

2) I have a long list of music albums named using extended ETIs such as (Japan 1978 Special Edition) or (US MiniMax Single) as appendixes to the name of the album. For each album there is a NFO already containing its Musicbrainz link within the album folder. Can cdART manager automatically recognise these NFO files and make use of them to do a perfect match of my albums?

Thanks in advance for any guidance on the matter,

cdART Manager is just a downloader. It does not create the image views in XBMC. XBMC does not permit music image manipulation as it does for Videos.

cdART Manager also uses information from XBMC, which gets it from the tags, not directly. If XBMC does not store the information properly, then the script does not get it properly. This is something that is being worked on inside XBMC for Gotham.

Hi. This is a great addon. Thanks for keeping it alive.
However i have a little problem. The addon does not recognize all of my artists in fact it only shows 7 artists. I have a bunch more.
Using XBMC 12.2 with Arctic Skin and CDArtManager 3.0.3

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Guys,
Let’s just say that I’m new to cdart manager so these questions may have been answered before but I looked for hours through this forum and couldn’t find the answer. I’m using AEON MQ 4
Ok I have a music library stored on my NAS. I have some artists/albums that will never be found but the scrapers. With that in mind I set up the cdart manager to store all the art inside the artist folders like you see on box #3.

Question 1.
Where are the files coming from on box #1 I don’t see them in my library? Are they dynamically pulled from the internet?

Question 2.
The album art box #2 which is stored in my album folders as folder.jpg is not always showing the right art is XBMC have they own album art it overnights the files stored in the library folders?

Question 3.
When I go into the artist’s mode and I see all the artist thumbnails are those pulled from the artist folder called folder.jpg?
Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
I'm having trouble running this addon on a with a few different xbmc nightlies on ubuntu x64 12.04.3. Here is a log:

http://pastebin.com/hNAX84nT

Log suggests that it cannot find PIL, however python-imaging is installed and deleteing addonsdb.15 doesnt help. Not sure if this is setup error or because I'm running a nightlie, but i will try with frodo.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Frodo: http://paste.ubuntu.com/6161395/

Sorry, you said you installed PIL.. Hmmm your python path seems odd.. It does not include the folder dist-packages(where PIL is located). Not sure in the method that you installed PIL..

Thanks, but after following the instructions to install PIL and rebooting I'm till getting the same error:

I dont know how to check the install like in the how to though. I tried installing PIL via pip and got:

Code:
pip install PIL
Requirement already satisfied (use --upgrade to upgrade): PIL in ./.pyroscope/lib/python2.7/site-packages/PIL-1.1.7-py2.7-linux-x86_64.egg
Cleaning up...

But after rebooting still no luck

Could xbmc be trying to use pyroscopes PIL?

XBMC Stores URLs as it finds them with the Music Scraper, it will mirror a thumbnail(smaller in size to a point) for faster access.. These will be automatically refreshed as the source changes(after about 24hrs after the change)
Quote:Question 2.

If XBMC has already placed an image in the database for the album, depending on how it was found, it may refresh it after a period of time(approx 24hrs) The reason I say it may is because it will not refresh it if the original image was an URL(found via scraping) and the new image is the folder.jpg.
Quote:Question 3.
When I go into the artist’s mode and I see all the artist thumbnails are those pulled from the artist folder called folder.jpg?

The artist thumbnail depends on what library level you are on(ie artist, album, song) and the skin. this is because XBMC only has certain parts of the library immediately available to the skin. Some skin developers have 'cheats' to show images.
Quote:Image

Until XBMC provides access for an addon to adjust the Artwork in the Music Library, the script can not change the image paths.

Could xbmc be trying to use pyroscopes PIL?

XBMC's access to the system python does not seem to understand .egg files. There probably is a proper method to fix this.. Can you try to install Pillow, it seems to be a drop in replacement for PIL except that it is supposed to work Smile -> http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Pillow

You probably also use 'sudo pip install PIL --upgrade'

RE: [RELEASE] cdART Manager Script - teeedubb - 2013-09-27

Strange, when running 'sudo pip install PIL --upgrade' it complained that there was no pip installed, so I installed it and PIL + PILLOW and no dice Sad
I tried uninstalling PIP and just leaving PILLOW, with no luck, but I get the feeling it may not be completely uninstalled, because when I run the uninstall command it acts as though its being uninstalled again.

RE: [RELEASE] cdART Manager Script - Rotil66 - 2013-09-27

Hello,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I have installed CD Art, but I can' t get it to function. So can somebody help me to find out what I'm doing wrong. I can start CDart but somehow I can't get the program to build the database. If I select 'update Database' the program is going thru my music database reading albums, artist etc. etc. This looks to work like it should. But after the update has finished, there are no item added to the database and in the bottom line there's still 0 artist/album. As far as I can see all my songs are properly tagged. (The universal scraper is finding the most of my albums)
So it looks like I'm overseeing a fundamental step, can anybody help out ??

RE: [RELEASE] cdART Manager Script - teeedubb - 2013-09-27

I ran just 'pip install PILLOW' and it installed and now its running! Smile Thanks alot for your help!

I think it has something to do with pyroscope for rtorrent - I vaguely running the addon once before installing pyroscope, but I wasnt sure. I need to look at how I installed it, hope it doesnt cause any more problems.
