As I had thought I read some where, OpenElec has backported the xbmcvfs module since RC4. I'll add that change to the Dharma version. Once I get my internet hooked up, I'll have a chance to test the changes I have made.

Is there any reason this script uses "albumartist" instead of "artist" for the fanart lookup? This causes every song from a compilation album to display a "various artists" backdrop (if one exists) instead of the actual artist. Is there a way to change that?

Thanks.

How does this script cause that?? The script does not display any fanarts or cause those to be displayed, skins do.. The script will download a Various Artist Fanart and store it in the album folder if the fanart is manually downloaded. Not everyone has their music library organized with the Album Artist as Various Artists and the tracks with the actual Artist(for compilations)

The script originally dealt with only cdARTs, therefore only dealt with Album Artists(downloading a cdART for each of the artists in a compilation CD would have been a waste.)

I've added "all artists" to fanart and logo sections of the script. This also will require the option 'Include artists who appear only on compilations' in the Music Library settings to be turned on(this is needed for XBMC to provide the script with the artists.) It hasn't been completely tested yet, nor backported to the Dharma Version(it will).

The script will automatically check the version of the addon's database that currently resides on XBMC, then determines if it needs to update it to have the full artists list to be added to the database. If it does, the script will store the artists(along with the matching MusicBrainz ID, if found). Depending on the number of artists this may take 10-15 mins(My system had about 1000 artists not in the library). If it is a fresh install the database will be built as normal(with the new artist list.)

Once this is complete, the script will function normally again, except for two new option in Fanart and clearlogo sections.

CDArt manager gets stuck at creating database...
i tried to delete the plugin folder from userdata/addon_data/ but it didn't help...

From the log, it doesn't seem that you have the music library in XBMC created.

Any news on the openelec update?

- dugan26 - 2011-11-15

Hi -

I think Im stuck on stupid or something ...

I installed the addon
configured the folders

How does this script work? does it automatically execute iteslf or do I have to initiate a "load" or something?

Running Pre-Eden - MQ3 - Win7

Looks very cool addition - a MUST HAVE ...

Just got my internet hooked up, so I'm testing the Eden version(so far so good) Once it checks out ok, I'll add the changes to the Dharma version and test it as well.. Probably should be out around the weekend..

This is a script(aka program) that iis started from the programs tab on the home screen. It requires you to have a music library already set up in XBMC. The script will search your music library(which XBMC provideds access to) and match it up to MusicBrainz. This process will take roughly the same amount of time as it takes to build the Music Library in XBMC. Once done. You can download cdARTs, Cover Arts, Fanarts, clearLogos that most skins use when accessing your music library. If you have a fairly large music library, you can use the option in the scripts settings to build the database in the background(allows you to use XBMC for other things while it does its thing.)

got it-

All set on step one and two-

I imported the music library (did that before the post)
Added an "add on" tab to home menu - renamed it Programs and added the cdArt manager to it-

Got that going ... and it updated took about 1.5 hours to update about 600 albums - not bad at all ... quite great to be honest ...

So is the idea now I go "fetch" whatever art work i desire (either manually OR Automatically) and then ...

While album is playing how do I get the fan art to show up in the background?

running MQ3

Looking good so far - I took down 30 sec to mars and Adele as a test - how to I proceed?

Never mind I got it - this is INSANE !!!!!!

I'm having an issue here. I'm using Pre-eden Nightly. Aeon MQ3. On Windows 7 X86 machine. When I run this script it seems to lock up XBMC completly when its building its database. Here is my Pastebin
