XBMC database without video files? - furryhamster - 2010-07-24

Hi,

i would like to create a database with xbmc. my movies are on dvd. is there any possibility to create such a database without having the files on pc?

moreover i would like to use ember media manager to find covers and so on.
copy the dvds one time on pc would be no problem but with the time it takes to much space

If you have to get up and find the DVD, insert it and such, wouldn't you be better off just browsing your movies on the shelf? XBMC is designed for media stored somewhere, not really what you want.

Create dummy files, use an extension that XBMC recognizes like .iso.
Here are some examples from my offline library.

A View to a Kill (1985).BK1.iso
Babel (2006).BK2.iso

The BK1 & BK2 are there so I know where the movie is located, i.e., book 1 and book 2.

Ember has a addon for this "Ember offline media manager" you get it from addons > module in embers settings Smile
