RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - gcdlz - 2013-05-22

Has anyone been able to get an mce remote to work with Windows 8? If so could you point me in the direction of instructions to do so.
I had it working perfectly in Windows 7, but no go on the new computer with Windows 8.

MCE remote works perfectly on my Win 8 32bit system. What are the problems you are facing?

I would like to assign the 'Clear' button to Alt+F4 and I just can't figure out how.

Please find my MCE remote registry settings below. (It's standard except for I changed 'Power Toggle' to Wake only):

Code:

Hi, I have installed XBMCCustomRegis but couldn't get the start button working on windows 8. When I press start, it just launches the home screen. As per the instructions, it should launch xbmc and toggle with home screen. Can someone please let me know how to get this working?

Also when I get the start screen, most times it is not focused. I can't navigate it.

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - mmatforum - 2013-07-10

Everything is working great except that the Green Windows Button doesn't take me back to the Home screen. It will open XBMC and restore focus but it will NOT take me back to the Home screen.

1- What Operating system are you using? Windows 8 64bit
2- What Remote are using? It's an HP MCE Remote that came with an HP computer
3- Was the Remote Certified for use with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7? It came with a Vista computer so probably Vista
4- What IR receiver are you using? USB that came with the remote
5- IF you are using a USB IR receiver have you got a built-in IR receiver in your HTPC by any chance? No built in receiver
6- Is your IR Receiver listed as "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver" under the "Human Interface Devices" in the "Device Manager"? Yes
7- Have you tried any kind of software before trying my customised setup? Have you used any apps like EventGhost before using my setup? Brand new computer and haven't installed anything like this.
8- Please let me know which version of the .reg file you used or if you used the Auto installer method? Auto installer
9- If its Keyboard.xml issue, then please include what version did you use and where did you put it? Also if you changed anything in the Keyboard.xml in the system installation folder of XBMC? Just used the Auto Installer
10- Finally What XBMC version are you using? 12.2

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - costi - 2013-07-10

I have the same problem as mmatforum - Green Button can be used to start XBMC and restore focus, but going to home screen does not work.

1- What Operating system are you using? Windows 7 Pro
2- What Remote are using? Microsoft MCE Remote without the teletext keys (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow
3- Was the Remote Certified for use with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7? It's a Microsoft device, so probably yes
4- What IR receiver are you using? Built into the case, FIC Spectra
5- IF you are using a USB IR receiver have you got a built-in IR receiver in your HTPC by any chance? Yes, see above
No and no
8- Please let me know which version of the .reg file you used or if you used the Auto installer method? Auto installer
9- If its Keyboard.xml issue, then please include what version did you use and where did you put it? Also if you changed anything in the Keyboard.xml in the system installation folder of XBMC? Just used the Auto Installer
10- Finally What XBMC version are you using? 12.2

I've also tried a Dell MCE RC6-compatible remote that does have the teletext buttons but the behavior is the same.

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - nordberg - 2013-07-11

Hi,

Sorry to crash the thread....

I've just got my hands on one of these and I'm struggling to get it to do anything at all.

I had one of the RC6 remotes that Maplin sell, but due to much abuse, it is no more. When it was alive, it worked perfectly thanks to the information here. I was rather hoping that my new remote would just work....seemingly not.

Has anyone got the new Meria Remote working with XBMC under Windows? If so, how?

Also, is there a utility I can run that "captures" the IR commands sent by the remote? I want to be sure that it is the old RC6 that is broken and not the eHome IR receiver.....

Thanks in advance!

Is your IR receiver still working? If so there are two easy options

1. Using eventghost you can capture keypress from any remote control. You can use your existing dvd or tv remote.
2. Buy a logitech harmony universal remote.

Not sure. It lights up when I point the remote at it and press a button.

Downloaded Eventghost but I can't work out exactly what I need to do to capture the remote signals....

Don't really want to buy another remote as I've just bought this one on the understanding it works with XBMC.....

Any other suggestions or can someone point me in the right direction with Eventgost?

Speaking of Harmony Remotes, what device (with Logitech software) are you guys using with this? I have "Windows Media Center" which works great, but it's missing the colored buttons. I've also tried "Windows Media Center SE" which has some extra weird functions, but is missing some obvious standard ones, like "menu", context menu, etc.

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - TRaSH - 2013-07-14

in my opinion the logitech harmony 900,
because it has physical colored buttons.
i use it together with a MCE ir reciever on my HTPC with the reg patch here.
and you set it up as MCE remote or keyboard.

I probably should have worded my question better ... what I meant is what manufacturer / model number do you search for in the Logitech Software. I have a Harmony Touch... currently using the "Windows Media Center" profile, it's just missing a few things like the colored button emulation.
