BlueCop Wrote:philipacentaur: I am just referring to subscribers of the plus service only and not the hulu plug-in itself. I haven't completely decided yet because I do like having hulu on my phone but I am weighing if it is worth 10 bucks month. They need to move up the release of shows for premium subscribers if anything. Thinking I will pay them to wait a month to watch one of my favoriate shows is fucking retarded when I could torrent that show within hours of its premiere. It is another case of the industry not understanding who their competition is. They are driving people to piracy with these policies and thus losing any possible revenue. They would rather lobby the government to support their broken models and fuck consumers at every turn.

edit: sorry I rant too much

Oh, I'm totally with you! It's ridiculous that they spend their money in all the wrong places and all the worst ways -- not a surprise though. I just meant that your resuscitation of the Hulu plugin (and adding of Hulu Plus support) prompted me to sign up for Hulu Plus. If you cancel your Plus account, I'll either cancel mine too, or keep paying the ten bucks like a sucker and try to help out by keeping the Plus support working myself.

Never mind its working

Just posting to express my appreciation for your set of plugins, BlueCop. I am new to XBMC...just installed it a couple weeks ago on my hacked Apple TV because I have been getting pretty terrible performance from Boxee and wanted to see if XBMC was a better option.

Not only does it perform better on the whole, but the Hulu plugin works perfectly on the ATV. Hulu via Boxee on the ATV was absolutely unwatchable 99% of the time. I have Netflix working pretty well through Boxee (and also through Firefox installed through NitoTV) but I had given up on Hulu on the ATV until now. :-)

I love that I can pick the stream quality, I think that really helps the performance since the Apple TV isn't the fastest out there. I just got done watching pilot of The Event, medium stream...no pixelation, no stuttering, no buffering, just a perfect stream. Having the Hulu Plus support rocks too, because now I can watch Hulu stuff in the bedroom while my husband is hogging the PS3 in our living room. Thank you so much for your awesome plugin work!!

I love the praise because I am very self important and love to listen to myself talk or other people talk about the great works I have done.

Unfortunately I am not that great. It is xbmc and countless hours of others people's work that make these things work. First off without highlandsun I am not sure hulu would have been resurrected. His librtmp work is what makes pretty much every plugin in my repo possible today. Team xbmc is of course badass as well. Hulu has long been a team effort and there are many contributions from rwparris2 for the current plugin framework, rectalogic, highlandsun for python based decryption, maruchan for subtitles.(plus more I can't remember while on my phone). The others plugins are mine though. Muhahaha...

Also is any interested in hulu offsite search? There are a ton of full episodes and other good content on the sites I added support for but I have gotten zero feedback since I posted my plan to make the feature. Do people care about this feature or should I go back to queue subscription stuff first?

Wonderful!! - AOD13 - 2010-09-24 14:22

Bluecop,

I just signed up so I could let you know that the Hulu plugin works great for me. Thank you for all the hard work!!

The CBS plugin does not work, the video is all choppy and is way behind the audio.

As to the Hulu plugin and off-site search, I would really like to see that but, first it would be great to get my subscription queue. I haven't tried it yet but, I am going to put in each show's episode rss feed and see what I get.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

- BlueCop - 2010-09-24 14:27

Offsite search is already there... I just am working on more external sites. If you look back a page there is a list of supported sites.

The rss feeds from hulu won't work with just xbmc because they link to the pages and not the media. Also it is limited to recent items and is why I won't be using them in the plug-in. I want access to ylthe entire lists.

Sorry for noobishness but, the link in the first post is to the latest version of the repository, correct?

Will the individual add-on updates show in the Updates or do I have to download them manually?

- BlueCop - 2010-09-24 14:40

It should be the latest on the repo. Also I have been updating the changelog on hulu so you should be able to see what changes are made with each update in xbmc.

Also the CBS problem is from the 1080p stream. I had forgotten about that. I will fix the multi-bitrate support later. I always use the 1080p streams so didn't notice.

Really great work getting all of this working.

I'm in the UK, and so only the Colbert Report works for me, Hulu, CBS, South Park, MTV, Yahoo Music etc all fail (IP address I guess)

The Colbert Report was my main want anyway, so I'm glad atleast that works.

Is there any easy way to get Hulu etc working (VPN?) without breaking my native iPlayer and ITV (UK TV internet services). I dont want to have a USA address and not be able to use UK internet TV services Smile

Again, brilliant, very nice looking bit of kit.

Buy me a uk VPN for a month and I will see what I can do. Otherwise I won't be working on this because I need cooperation from some one there and that has never happened when I have asked.
