Post a link to a VPN that you would want to use, SSL encryption etc if the costs aren't $$$ I'll get you it. (StrongVPN seems to come up top)

I appreciate the offer to develop this further.

* If successful, I will need help setting up the linux side of things no doubt Undecided I'm happy running linux terminals and commands, as long as I have the instructions of what to run Smile

You may be able to rig something up by having a look here:http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53452

Quote:Thanks a lot for you guide, BritBloke. Really appreciated! The plugin for Boxee is providing a bit more service though. It is supposed to switch VPN based on requested content (Hulu=US VPN and BBC iPlayer=UK VPN).

That would be the end goal I guess, to launch US VPN when opening Hulu, CBS etc, and to close it when exiting.

Hello BlueCop Smile

I've got your Hulu plug-in working and it's great. However, I'm having an issue and wanted to know if you (or anyone reading this post) could point me in the right direction.

When playing back streams i'm getting high pitched voices (chipmunk/helium sounding). This isn't happening with my own content, so i'm at a loss as to where i should look for information.

The audio in my encoded content is running at 48000Hz but i notice Hulu content is playing back at 44100Hz. Could this be a problem? I don't have anything at 44100Hz to test in my collection, so i figured i would ask.

Any information or direction would be appreciated!

Setup:
Gentoo Linux 32bit
Foxconn A85GM (AMD 785G)
ATI Radeon HD 4200 (Built-in)
Audio Device: HDMI

Now that would be very cool Smile I'm from the UK too and would love to see this.

BlueCop Wrote:committed a updated hulu with initial off site support.

if no results from hulu are found for the search term then it will automatically search offsite. if there are hulu results then it will display those with the option to 'search offsite' at the top.

When reporting a problem please include any search terms you are using and the specific video that is problematic.

if a supported site video fails to play then please try to visit the site and make sure the video is not expired before reporting it to me. unfortunately some of hulu video site maps are outdated and there is nothing I can do about that and I don't want to have to investigate every expired video someone finds. I am interested in any other problems with playback though.

It only supports these sites right now.

I am working on these next

There are dozens of sites that they index and I am not even aware of a lot of them.
So if you want me to support a specific site you like then please specifically ask for it and tell me what search terms you are using.

Here are some other sites that aren't supported but are on the back burner for modules.

I am working on the saved search setup now. I am going to try to make it flexible where you can create folders and sub search folders. I think it will be cool done where you can save categories of off site searches. like kids shows or specific networks. I think it will be cool when complete.

no update on queue/subscription... sorry

Didn't see CW on any of your lists. I can't imagine it would be high on your list, but it came up today when the lady tried to stream Top Model....

For completeness (and on the off chance it's an easy inclusion), search "ANTM" on Hulu and it links through to CW's new player (I googled, and it looks like the old proprietary Move plugin was on your radar, but this season it seems they're being much more straightforward in their streaming and it even plays fine in her linux browser).

Again, thanks tons for all the amazing work you do....

- BlueCop - 2010-09-26 02:50

Heh I dated a girl who liked to watch that show... I had to break it off. Wink j/k

I haven't looked at the cw but I will put it on my queue to investigate. Hopefully it won't be too difficult. It is so much easier making a playback module then a full fledge plug-in. I love offsite search. Smile

I need to come up with a method to control quality selection for the modules because I am converting the plug-ins for the specific sites to use their modules.

I was thinking universal bitrate and/or resolution limit. Some sites don't provide that meta data though and just have high and low type labels. These things are rolling around in my head a lot. I just really don't want separate quality selections for every possible site. I always want the highest quality myself and that is what I like to default to because I am a quality snob. Also this wouldn't handle codec selection for sites like revision3. I am lucky though and don't have limited bandwidth or caps on usage.

I love people thanking me but I like critical feedback more. Tell me if you think something is shit or should function another way. I want to improve these things and get different perspectives because other people probably have better ideas then me. I am a grumpy asshole most times but I will try to listen.

Also apologies for being a slow worker because I am extremely lazy. I also spend a lot of time deprecating myself which is actually a lot of work.

Edit:
Nightstormwolf: missed your post somehow. I need more info then that to be able to assist. Details of your setup and logs if possible. I can't speculate on a problem I don't experience or know anything about.

Please ignore... I let my encoder go overnight encoding samples at 44100Hz and just found out that anything with a rate less then 48000Hz speeds up (the lower the rate the faster the speedup). This looks to be an XBMC problem in general.

Thanks anyway. None the less, REALLY great plug-in! It works wonders and being able to pick the stream rate is especially nice. Keep up the good work. Smile

philipacentaur Wrote:Oddly enough, seeking works very well on XBOX (thanks for the compatibility work you've done so far).

I see that at least a couple of people have gotten this working on the Xbox. I am having trouble figuring out how to do this.

I've got:

repository.bluecop.xbmc-plugins.zip
BeautifulSoup-3.0.8.1.tar.gz
cryptopy-1.2.5.tar.gz
xbox.py
addoncompat.py

...but don't know what to do with them, besides putting BeautifulSoup.py and the contents of cryptopy into the python lib folder. If anyone could help us Xbox users out, it would definitely be greatly appreciated!

(I've been using XBMC since it was XBMP and I'm not dumping the Xbox yet!)

Me too. Nice first post.

What do you think you do? What have you tried to do? When successful could you make a guide?

(actually my old account was apparently deleted - certainly I can make a guide)

I copied BeautifulSoup.py and the contents of the cryptopy folder into system\python\lib. Should I take some specific files from cryptopy and put them in the root of the lib directory?

Since I don't know what to do with the addon.xml file (and have no idea what to do with addoncompat.py), my next move was to download all of the files for the Hulu plugin from your SVN directly. After putting the plugin on the Xbox, it failed to run. Just an experiment, since obviously the point is to have the latest updates anytime you go to the addon.
